Passport Renewal
#11
Once I got the second passport, I sent in my 10-yr passport for renewal. It hadn't technically expired, but the China visa expires six months prior to the passport.
Once I received it (and my China visa expired) I send in both my new (10-yr) and my expired (10-yr with the expired visa) back to CIBT for the new China visa.
Three steps for two passports and a visa. It's kind of a pain in the rear, but this way you always have a passport available for int'l travel (work and personal). If you don't need the visa, you can still get the second passport. Type 'pilot passport' in the search box on DLNet and it'll bring you straight to the info. Work with pilot assist (through the app) for the expedite letter.

The entire second passport process took less than ten days for me (done in October ‘23). Had it in hand just over a week after sending in the documentation. They make it easy.

Thanks for any info. Going to an international fleet soon and would like to get one since I know how much it helps during renewal time.
Im going A330 NYC and they don't require a visa, even though DTW flies to PVG I think.

So, just so I'm understanding the last few posts....We still have the option of getting a second passport, even if we aren't on a fleet that requires visas of different validity? That's good to know. Does Delta still support us through CIBT and pay for the second passport? Is the second passport still only good for 2 years?

Ya, that's not how it works. The company will follow the PWA and no pay protection kicks in until the quoted time from cibt elapses and no passport.

I've used CIBT to acquire a 'second passport' before the expiration of my 10-yr passport and China visa.
