If ALPA work was such a lucrative boondoggle, why isn't there a line down the street to do it?

your suffering doesn’t matter to them, because they’re a narcissist.

Fascinating.

If we aren't complaining about our Profit Sharing (It's not enough dad, what if I want wings!), we're compaining about our Union representation.
It's a tough job, and i'm glad we have them there.

Maybe I’m missing something here… But didn’t Delta Airlines pilots just receive an industry-leading contract? I earned an extra 9 hours of pay in December just from the new reroute language and extended duty pay alone. Not to mention the extra 10:30 from the new holiday pay. Almost an extra 20 hours just for going to work and working a normal schedule. And in January I worked 15 days for 112 hours of credit. And I’m very junior.

Working 18 days and only receiving 108 hours of credit seems like something no one with a brain would be against. Most pilots can just go home, shut off their phone and put all of this away. Many ALPA people don’t have that luxury. Their work follows them. I wouldn’t want to do it. So pay them and be grateful they’re willing.

DALpA votes themselves a raise from 5:15 to 6:00 per day for ALpA "work" (FPL) and 108 hours of pay for 18 days of ALpA "work". No monthly cap.

Reps get two "admin days" off with pay per month. "These would count towards their Line Construction Window (LCW) and would simply account for work performed from home throughout the month". So that's baked into the 108 hours for 18 "days of work".

And even more audacious, ALpA staff on medical leave can now get paid 6:00/day, 108/mo for "volunteering". Because "a volunteer who is out sick for a knee injury is still physically capable of performing the duties of an ALpA volunteer". Kind of like the MEC chairman who was out on LTD when he got elected and hasn't turned a wheel in years? So now the country club members can get paid line pay for office work while we have to deal with LTD and DPMA.

That's their reward for giving us 2 and 1/2 pillars. It's time to drain the swamp and throw these trough dwellers out who just suck off us. Worse than the clowns in Washington.
Shame on them. Apparently C44 was instrumental in pushing this. Shocking level of corruption.

Now cue the usual ALpA apologists to say they love the contract and will gladly pay the reps more to do nothing for gifting it to them.
I appreciate you bringing attention to this. I’m glad we’re on the path to paying union work better. I don’t see corruption and appreciate the transparency. Up Delta’s FPL bill to pay ALPA volunteers something closer to what they would make flying the line? Sounds good to me. If and when I decide to offer my services for important and necessary union work, it will be nice not to have to take a pay cut to do it.

There were a lot of soft pay increases in the latest PWA, over and above the pay rate. Our volunteers should be compensated as such.

I am not wholly against this raise but I think it should have been put to a vote. Seems rather sketch to just give yourself a raise. Additionally from the Union reps I have talked to it is pretty lucrative. There are tips and tricks (that I don’t know) that can get them far more than 108 hours a month. Also they can do most if not all work remotely so they never have to commute. Sleep in their own bed every night, never miss a kids ball game, rarely even have to leave the house for work. Not saying I want to do it (but have considered it). But also just pointing out ALPA work can be quite lucrative and great QOL.

It had to be voted on by the reps. Union work is not WFH.

The 6-day is more for folks like contract admin and scheduling where they do weeks at a time in ATL.

OK I (hopefully) clearly meant the membership when I said “vote” as I said “they” gave themselves a raise. You are saying there is no work from home Union work? I could have sworn I had heard people I have flown with who do Union work were doing at least some from home? I could certainly be wrong but would really like to hear directly from a rep.

I can't say there is NO WFH, but all positions I know where folks are spending solid amounts of time on FPL (committee chairs/vice chairs, scheduling/contract admin/etc) they're all in ATL.

Email yesterday says "Of note, none of the 18 days may be worked from home."

Clarification would absolutely be nice, but I know of the folks I talk to, when they do ALPA work it's in ATL.
