Default DALpA gives themselves a raise?

I can't believe nobody here is talking about this. Email last night.

DALpA votes themselves a raise from 5:15 to 6:00 per day for ALpA "work" (FPL) and 108 hours of pay for 18 days of ALpA "work". No monthly cap.

Reps get two "admin days" off with pay per month. "These would count towards their Line Construction Window (LCW) and would simply account for work performed from home throughout the month". So that's baked into the 108 hours for 18 "days of work".

And even more audacious, ALpA staff on medical leave can now get paid 6:00/day, 108/mo for "volunteering". Because "a volunteer who is out sick for a knee injury is still physically capable of performing the duties of an ALpA volunteer". Kind of like the MEC chairman who was out on LTD when he got elected and hasn't turned a wheel in years? So now the country club members can get paid line pay for office work while we have to deal with LTD and DPMA.

That's their reward for giving us 2 and 1/2 pillars. It's time to drain the swamp and throw these trough dwellers out who just suck off us. Worse than the clowns in Washington.
Shame on them. Apparently C44 was instrumental in pushing this. Shocking level of corruption.

Now cue the usual ALpA apologists to say they love the contract and will gladly pay the reps more to do nothing for gifting it to them.

OF all the things to complain about, paying the volunteers so they basically keep pace with a just fly their line pilot. Seriously?

Looked like some good changes for the committee volunteers and such.

As someone who has had fantastic help from various ALPA committes and our legal team fighting the company using medical as a weapon, I'm OK with paying them more.

I assure you, if you managed to make DAL your union free utopia, you wouldn't get anywhere near what you get compensation/retirement or representation when some manager in ATL is out for blood.

Is it perfect? No. Do they occasionally do dumb crap that I groan about? Yes.

But all the *****ing about the pillars, what would have made you happy.

I need a 401K% and whatever cash for seniors only (Min Balance MBCBP) would have made you happy.

Because the Pension isn't coming back. That ship sailed close to 20 years ago.

Apparently you need to look up the definition of volunteer. If you're getting paid, you're not a volunteer. They need to call them what they are - association employees. And DALpA has hundreds of them when you count in all the committee drones who do "union" "work".

And yes, we should be compensated for our sacrifices during the Lost Decade. We endured setbacks that junior will never see. Junior thinks a 3 year upgrade is "stagnation" lol.

Run for rep and start fixing it. Be the change you want to see. Make those junior jerks pay you for your sacrifice instead of just shouting about it

You certainly won't find me working 18 days a month here. If I did, it would be for more than 108 hours.

So much to unpack here:

First it's funny how pilots cr@p on each other for doing the same exact thing. "If I try to do the least amount of work for the most amount of compensation I am smart, but if YOU try to do that, it's not cool!"

Second, I don't have to compensate you for anything. I'm gonna UNO reverse card senior's favorite lines for you. "Life isn't fair", "suck it up, buttercup", "pull yourself up by your bootstraps", etc....

Lastly, it is so incredibly ignorant to say nothing is gonna happen in the next 30 years of my career after all the stuff you lived through.

Oh, and have you actually worked for a non-union carrier? I've had 3 non-union aviation jobs (4 if you count Uncle Sam). It's not a better option.

Typical response. Can't run for office when the angry mob wants you to just shut up and leave and get out of their seat.

That's a straw man anyhow, your #1 tactic here that you accuse everyone of, then use yourself.

This isn't because I think I could do better, it's a complaint that the trough dwellers keep self dealing yet underperforming. Tell me how many ACE reports are backlogged? Why do pilots still need to fight for RRPY? Why can pilots get rerouted constantly... what's the point of bidding a schedule if everyone in the company is now on airport reserve (thankfully not a problem on the WB fleets)? Why did they give up batch sizes for nothing? Why do we pay for 2 buffets and an open bar with top shelf booze at every ALpA meeting? Why do we send them to an all expenses paid party on the beach every 2 years? Why can the DALpA chairman not be a current qualified pilot?

But obviously they deserve a raise for all their hard work cowering to the mean lady in RDU and delivering 2 1/2 pillars.

The hardest working pilots I have ever seen are ALPA reps. I would never have touched the job with a 10 foot pole! I disagreed with one who lived near me once on nearly every issue. The only thing we could agree on is he was woefully underpaid!

Most of your response is fluff, but I'll respond to this trope. The difference is that the company is paying us line pilots and WE are paying the ALpA trough dwellers! This is OUR dues money, and it's being wasted to feed fat cats, not to make things batter for the line swine.[/size]
