Global Entry Denied
Has anyone else had their application denied? Mine didn’t come back with a reason for denial just the “Denied”.
I did my interview in Dublin and yes I had two arrests in my closet. 1 shows up on my background check as “Fugitive of the Law”. I was 19 and had an unpaid speeding ticket. I was later pulled over and arrested for that warrant. I went to court, paid the ticket and it was over. The damn arrest reason on the FBI check sounds so dramatic like I was on the run! That was 30 years ago. The other was a DWAI from 17 years ago. I admitted to both and the girl interviewing me said that as long as it’s over 10 years ago, there shouldn’t be an issue.
Delta knew about both in the interview and I held a Top Secret clearance for 20 years until I retired last year from the military.
Everything I’m reading online says it’s a non issue as long as it’s been 10 years since. Mine are 17 & 30 years old.
There is an option on the website for “reconsideration” but you have to write a letter and submit documentation but of course it doesn’t say why I was denied so how am I supposed to provide documentation??
Has anyone else been denied or can help shed some light on this? Thanks.

I can't offer any direct advice, apart from saying Global Entry is an entity of its own. It took me 8+ months for a renewal, and I still had to reinterview. Meanwhile some folks were getting reapproved within a month. There's no real accountability or anybody to reach out to. I checked in multiple times with the GE interviewers when I'd clear customs and they'd see I was "pending" but could do absolutely nothing to expedite. Maybe ALPA security committee could offer some suggestions, I'm sure you aren't the first in this boat. Good luck!

Typical government...here we trust you with this multi-million dollar aircraft while we also entrust you with Top Secret information. Never mind that we have people with some decent rap sheets serving in higher levels within the government. But you're too much of a security threat to allow easier access back into the country you sacrificed so much to help defend. Thank you for your service. I wish I had more to offer but I know people with multiple DUI's that have GE, so unless there is some other crazy skeleton, then I can't see why they'd deny you. At the very least they should provide you a denial reason. I'd research if they have an appeals process.

This is probably the best advice. One thing I know has blocked approval for some is if you have been caught by customs with anything they may have noted in your clearance record. A pilot caught with a apple was denied global entry as well as a pilot who exceeded the allowed alcohol limits.

Much like when you compare their treatment of pilots with apples to their handling of the situation along the Rio Grande.

6 months later they just sent an email saying you’re renewed, forget the interview.

I am not sure everyone knows this but there are two options for renewal that are painless. The easiest as mentioned is have your tentative renewal number ready and when you clear customs into the US next time ask him to complete the process. Took about 60 extra seconds. The second is you can now schedule a virtual interview and do it from home.
