I think the batch size issue is comical. We got batch sizes and supposedly hand-cuffed the company. I believe they could call 3 pilots per trip at a time. Then we gave batch sizes away for nothing, but with auto-accept, but no on acknowledge, we’ve essentially reduced batch sizes to 1 and hand-cuffed the company even worse than before. What’s the old saying? Be careful what you wish for. Of course, we’re the losers because the company just violates the PWA when they lose patience.

Because as a RES GS ninja, there's often "on call under 18 to report" late in the month once they burned all the short calls.
But a 1+10 DH to BOS day 1 isn't worth it, but a 11:30 to HNL defon is.

Ahhh, I see what you are saying.
IOW, if everyone had auto-accept on, but the 10th pilot is the one who actually acknowledged the trip, it would have to give the first 9 pilots a 12 minute window to acknowledge the trip before moving on to the next person, thus making the 10th person almost 2 hours after the acceptance window closed before the trip was acknowledged, and thus officially 'covered'.

What is the trip selection logic for auto accept when multiple trips go out? Highest paying? Earliest reporting?

Just as the company is grasping at every straw to squeeze value out of the PWA and build leverage, the pilot group can do the same simply by turning “Auto Accept” on, “Auto Acknowledge” off, and never hitting “decline” in ARCOS.
That would effectively bring back batch sizes, creating a giant thorn in the company’s side that they would need to negotiate their way out of.

Been doing this since DH surrendered batch sizes (surprised we haven't seen him been anointed a management position in Flt Ops yet). I didn't come up with it on my own. I give credit to a very savvy GS hungry hippo FO I flew with (he's VERY contract savvy). One of the FO's on that trip was very smart about this, he explained to me how this works (it took him some coaching with me as I admit at the time I was a bit dense about the whole thing). So since then I put in a basic greenie (with no intention really of flying it) and selected as described above and then ignore the calls/ARCOS.
I use auto Accept because I got tired (specifically my wife got tired) of being woken up in the middle of the night when I was nowhere close to being on deck. If the side effect is they have to let each pilot’s timer run down then so be it. Now when ARCOS calls I know I’m up.
edit: not saying HK is on the line, just happened to quote his post. These are the threads that end up in discovery and REMOVE leverage. It’s happened before.

This actually screws your fellow pilots that may want the GS WAY more than you “sticking it” to the company.
Just for example:
Beautiful trip pops into OT at 9pm. If they call soon enough(before bed), i’d do it. Once I go to sleep I don’t want to be woken up no matter if I’d get it or not. So, bc you guys are sticking it to the company - your games cost me a slip bc it takes hours to do coverage for it*. Sure, someone else will grab it, but slowing the process down is petty and ridiculous.
Personally I think getting rid of the batch sizes was great. Trips are covered way faster now benefitting everyone. So you get a call for a trip you can’t hold? Turn your phone off, don’t put in a slip, bid a category where you’re more senior, etc. But clogging things up hurts us too.
*It’s contractual I get it.
An eye for an eye makes everyone blind. This is happening endlessly between us and management.

Be sure you guys don’t start dancing on the job action line.

This is about utilizing our contractual provisions to the fullest, just as the company does. The coverage process is an intricate and important part of our PWA.

I get what you're saying, but what should have happened was keep what we had or put even the most minimal of guardrails. Our leverage was just keeping it as it was. The last few callouts I've received were 30 and 100+. Auto accept helps but is a bandaid at best. At the very least, getting a slider within ARCOS to turn auto accept on/off would have been light years ahead of just giving it away.
I'm not so sure it's all that much faster than a vast majority of the callouts. I rejected one once and it sat on my line for 3 hours before they moved on. This instances are getting more and more common.
