UAL just had a better Q1 than Daddy D. The pendulum is swinging

swing or pop? we already beat the horse... so I won't do it again
I'm fine with being #2 with higher revenue and less debt

When you look into the UAL 10-Q $108M special credit for aircraft sale-leasebacks and they don't recognise profit sharing expense quarterly. ($124M for DAL) That's a $232M reporting difference on book keeping methods.

They’re gaining momentum. I think we are losing steam. Haven’t seen a week where we are #1 or #2 in on time performance in a couple months now. It’s always 4 5 4 ranking wise. FA’s doing the bare minimum on half the flight I’m on. I see people post dirt cheap upgrade offers to D1 and Premium Select on Reddit. Time will tell, but UAL is likely going to surpass Delta here soon. Hope that’s not the truth but I see the momentum going their way. Their stock has been out performing ours too, before the market sell off at least

Crazy how United -may- marginally do better than Delta for one year when Delta’s held #1 for over a decade?

Really helps too when your massive FA workforce hasn’t seen a raise in the time Delta’s given its workforce 5 raises. New UA FA & mechanic contract will steeply spike their CASM. Would love to see what their debt outcome is as well when their order book is complete.

No pendulum is swinging, it takes years of consistent #1 to cement the spot; therefore years away from any pendulum. Everyone loves to hate on #1 after a long while, hence the pro-UA propoganda.

United FA’s are industry-proven to be worse, they’re less on time metric-wise statistically, ALL of their fares are cheaper across the board, and D1 is rated #1 first class seat in the U.S. above Polaris. Half their fleet doesn’t even have IFE and zero wifi. You’re watching to much media UA clout & buying into the fear mongering.

I won't say UA is undisciplined, but we all know a significant portion of their routes run on thin margins. DEN-Rome, SFO-Adelaide, EWR-Canary... there's probably a dozen routes like this that squeak out margins. That's great... until it's not. So if it takes a bunch of low margin, highly risky routes to jump ahead of Delta.... so be it.
