I would probably ensure that we had more on the ground. The whole exercise is about the preflight planning phase. It’s lovely that delta only protects like 10% of CFuel or something like that. Careful burning down to min for takeoff you might land with 4.8…

Interesting, all the “I have thick skin” statements in the WARTs brief don’t carry over to APC. May need to start sugar coating recommendations to the PF.

Yes, we have had multiple, that is many, of you young guys taxiing into things on the ground. It got so bad on a certain fleet the standards guys had to put out a fleet bulletin on how to taxi into the gate.
I read that. It was embarrassing. Shocked this trend hasn't been caught on OE

When I was on the 737 it was 5.0. But that was prepandemic and maybe the mindset changed.

I don’t have any data, but one reason could be that as pilots near retirement age, they choose to have medical procedures performed with our insurance vs, Medicare. Does anyone have data when the retirement age was 60 about the age and number of pilot on LTD nearing retirement then?

I wish I could find it but another pilot once sent me a checklist of what to do as you approached retirement. Number 1 on the list was to get any medical issues you were postponing done before going to Medicare. Shoulders, knees and anything else!

You cant teach spatial awareness on OE, not enough time. It is a similar pattern to critical thinking, you were either raised with it or taught it over a longer period of time somewhere before. You either embrace it or just walk through life looking through the lens of an 8" OLED. I don't care how young and flexible a brain is, if its conditioned to sit at idle, it will sit at idle.
