If you are worried about job sharing, just bid the 350 where it is neither pilot's job. 😁

All the examples you brought up are bad and should be addressed, but attributing it simply to age or seniority is overly simplistic.

C'mon HK you're better than this. That's why I'm being intentionally stubborn, and sometimes sarcastic. It gets exhausting getting talked down to all the time, and having to listen to how junior pilots in both seats don't have the right skills or experience to be there. You and others have said multiple times that there was significant scrutiny both in the training department and in flight standards over the Captains that upgraded with less than 3 years on property when that was going on. I can attest to it being true having gone through the program myself. If significant deficiencies were noted they should have been dealt with in that setting. I think it's dishonest to try and paint one category of pilots as lesser just based on their seniority number, when the truth is everyone can have a bad day at work and end up on a bulletin, or worse the news. We study those that ended up in that unfortunate situation so hopefully we never have to ourselves.
They did that too. They put out a lot of articles. For the 73 group an LCA put out a 3 part series on how to calculate bingo fuels. The LCP's just don't make these topics up, they use the excellent feedback system we have with DALPA CASC, Delta Flight Safety, FOQA guys, Training and Standards. When we see trends, we publish. There's a radar fundamentals paper coming from Flight Standards soon. It was already in the works before the 330 Leroy Jenkins maneuver.

we see a lot of stuff happening out there that, again, is not published in the SES. Maybe you should volunteer for one of the safety groups or to be a FOQA dude. I think you'd have your eyes opened. Again, we all make mistakes, and we all should learn from them and others.

Nothing like a “senior pilot bashing thread. My take is if you kids hate flying with senior pilots, you may have made bad career choices.

The age bashing started with senior between LEPF trying to make us look incompetent to advance the idea that the airlines would fall apart without senior's complacency I mean "experience". Also, lots of butt hurt seniors bashing on juniors lucky timing with the post COVID hiring. Lots of hate for the early upgrades and late 20 somethings getting hired because if we didn't get furloughed uphill in the snow both ways, we didn't "earn" it. All while ignoring the fact that the entire top of the seniority list all got here in their mid 20's, but only they deserved it... Ok bro

I personally don't mind flying with senior pilots, plenty are great. I do mind, however, when they claim they want to work to 67 to mentor us with their "experience", but then go flying through red cells and make the news.

As stated above, we all make mistakes, but don't act like you're immune from them.

Also something to be said about the exponential LTD after age 60. What if instead of dragging on your career out to age 67 (which dilutes pay, assuming there's a fixed amount in the company budget), you could make the same amount of money, sooner with more movement? Better for all.

New guys:

Running low of fuel (divert planning common sense) mult times

Running into fixed things on the ground (multiple times) because they don't oversteer going into gates

Over speeding aircraft (mult times....we had one crew hit .815 almost in a 73)

Getting in an upset state (mult times and is a fleet dependent issue)

Botched clearances resulting in serious NAV errors (mult times)

Incorrect QRH procedures ran (one specific fleet here)

All these happened multiple times throughout the operation with a common denominator. New and inexperienced in one or both seats. I mean we all make mistakes and we learn. Your comment here deserved a rebuttal.
Good grief, what is Mmo on the guppy?

I usually agree with you on most things but an overspeed? Seriously? You are stretching here.

There's nothing to calculate. It's your min landing fuel at destination. Both Boeing and Airbus FMC's will notify you if you are going to land below that value. No need to overcomplicate things with someone's "technique."
