Specifically regarding GS, to the extent they’d ever run that step regularly again, many actual reserves are ineligible for them due to this wildly stupid “pre-posted rest” program. They put cancelation codes in for flights that blame pilot staffing, while many reserves sit unused at home, with GS slips in, and are not even getting a call because they are “on rest,” having worked precisely 0 hours before the “rest” was assigned.

What we’re left with is a situation where people are happy earning just the reserve guarantee, or the minimum LCW on a regular line, and riding it out. We have discussed at length how ridiculous the 23M7/IA/CNO debacle has been, so there is no need to rehash why that is not a solution to this problem.

All of this speaks volumes about our leadership, or lack thereof. “But but but…Crew 360!…The Asterisk!…Auto-Accept!…Pods!…We’re Smart!” They yell all this while burning a rumored $100m a month on a clearly failed experiment. Even for a profitable company, that type of egregious decision making should mandate a significant shake up.
I think this is a good point that is undervalued. And it's not just that you used to have a good chunk of pilots grabbing last minute WS who now can't due to WS not being run, but also that most of the WS credit surfers are the senior dudes who are now raking in 23m7 payments and have little incentive to actually pick up anything that does go through WS coverage.

Yesterday's AE was another -11 for the DTW717B. A side was -5, with the only award being a base transfer.
At this rate summer is going to be brutal for us.

A or B? It’s a small stagnant category anyway and almost no one will bid the B side for sure. Those positions only exist to be filled by NH’s.

A side, lots bid out the last few AE's but they haven't awarded any new A's.

I'm sure someone smarter on here can explain but after this AE ATL73NA appears overstaffed by 100, and DTW320A overstaffed by 40.

How are you getting your overstaffed number

Quick glance at A vs B, as well as the June 2026 staffing projection to account for future new hire B’s.

The staffing projection isn’t always accurate, but most categories seem to add up, but DTW320 and ATL73N seem off. I’m also only looking at widgetseniority, so maybe there’s something wrong with the data.

Can't look at A vs B because that's where they are putting new hires

Correct, like I said I'm including unbid spots and the June projection to account for that.

Even if you ignore B's, there's a pretty big gap between the June staffing projection and current staffing for A's. I was hoping someone here knew why that is or how that works.

A few AE's ago, I saw a guy go ATL 320B to 717B. Was kinda scratching my head on that one. Be interesting to know his reasoning.

likely feeling stagnant at a junior seniority on the bus and wanted a quick path to being more senior in category.
