To the OP. You can do it. 👍
in ATL (for example). You park on the Landside Lot and catch the bus. When you get dropped off at the terminal with your clubs, go to Special Assist. Tell them you are “working Flt 1234 to PBI, and you need to check this bag.” Most agents won’t know how. Politely Remind them they have to use the “Snap” system. They will probably have to get a red coat. Of course, extra time for all this.
when I get to the plane, I let the capt know I checked my clubs, and I Will NOT delay the van/others waiting for the van. If my clubs take any extra time, I just uber to hotel.
like others have said; if you get senior, you can leave a set at your favorite layover.
when I was at B6, there was a senior FO who left clubs at BUF in the summer, and FLL in winter. 🤣🤣

Is it an accepted practice on any fleets to bring your golf clubs on trips? Like, maybe on the ER or WB fleets which tend to have longer layovers? I’ve only been on the LAX73N and that was before a long term MLOA, so I don’t have any frame of reference. Don’t want to be a dork about it or anything but I wonder if other people with my disease ever bring their clubs along. Just curious.
I don’t have a problem.
I could stop anytime, I just don’t want to.
I’m still functioning.
It’s not as bad a heroin.
I deserve it.
This is temporary.
It’s not really affecting my health.

Many moons ago, I once almost missed a flt after buying a new putter on layover in Oregon and KCM guy asked me "what's in the box?" I naively said "putter" and he said "NO GOLF CLUBS ALLOWED ONBOARD!" I had to leave putter behind with rental car clerk to have buddy come by pick up and ship for me.
I have found great/easy golfing options on layovers at RIC (Belmont park), MSY, KOA, PHX, LAS, and BWI (Naval academy if you have mil ID),

As somebody previously mentioned PUJ resort has a good course that is technically free although they charge a cart fee ranging from $30-60.

The Presidio in San Fran is a great course. Harding park is nice as well but more expensive and harder to get on. The muni in Charleston is worth the trip although the rental clubs are pretty sad. I really liked the muni across the river from our Portland, OR layover hotel.

When I had the rentals from the Naval Academy, they were cheap, but was a set put together from a few other partial sets. The 56deg wedge looked like they had fished it out of a lake after a decade.
