So far about 15 inches of snow has fallen on JFK and LGA from last night to this morning with most of the snow coming after later evening into the early morning. Wind gusts up to 47 kts. Lots of cancellations. Anyone stuck up there can report on what's going on? Seems like more snow mid week in the forecast as well.
I'm guessing crews in hotels are stuck there and can't make it to the airport due to road conditions etc. 15+ inches of snow, going to take a while to dig out of that one.

In all seriousness, NYC/Suburb County/Town crews have been out all night salting and plowing streets. Snow should be slowing after about 2 PM. Provided you can dig your car out, most of the main roads should be relatively fine by later this afternoon or this evening. I assume the Port Authority and Delta operations have been working throughout the night and morning to clear the airport surfaces as well. Sure would be nice to have an update from Delta, but this is my anecdotal observation from home in my comfy pants.

I dont hate the company. I dont really care one way or another about it. I do my job. I go home. I dont fault the company as if it has a personality and is being an a-hole. Its just a machine doing machine things.
with that said: how many times do we have to go into an irop and they cant plus up the support staff numbers? Its impossible to reach anyone by phone OR app in any reasonable timeframe
at this point its clearly a conscious decision by some vp that the cost savings of not having a staff blitz available outweighs the lost crew rotation integrity

If the phones are working or they don't pick up and immediately hang up after you've been waiting 45 minutes.

I live local to JFK/LGA. Can confirm there's snow on the ground 🤣🤣🤣.

Yeah, I'm sure it's a good time (sarcasm). Especially if your family lives in the affected area. They are stuck with the mess while you are over in Europe, pretty sure they're not going to be all to thrilled about your little stay-cation. (not speaking about you directly sailing, I know you're long retired).

North Jersey. Got about 20-24 inches here. Took about 3 hours to dig out. (normal snow is maybe an hour). Snowblowing 400 feet of driveway, shoveling off front porch and back deck, and salting it all. Roads were pretty clear by 8am yesterday morning, then I went to go try to dig my camper out.
Was supposed to leave this morning for Bike Week in Daytona followed by Ft. Wilderness at Disney.
Storage lot has 2 plow trucks stuck, and one of the front end loaders blew a transmission, leaving the guy trying to dig it out with a Bobcat.
"Friday, MAYBE, if this thing doesn't break and I can get a rental front end loader" was the estimate.

my wife is the snow removal expert for our neighborhood. she says I’m not to touch her blue diamond skid steer and tells me to stay inside and make hot chocolate while she does gods work (plus she doesn’t need me going out on disability for a blown out whatever). certainly not the “little missus” from her wyoming upbringing.
