Why are we having to pay for a 3rd party app to make sure the company isn’t stealing our money?

Isn’t that pretty crazy for a company that advertises being a Fortune Top 10 Best Place to Work?

The killing them with kindness routine is not to get flight ops to be nice to us. I completely agree that will have no effect and it’s not the intention. And I agree that hats off or bright colored lanyards will annoy them and more importantly shows unity.

But being nice to passengers while the operation is continually a dumpster fire isn’t going to “produce nice results” for flight ops. Non-cancelled and on time trips are infinitely more important than a tiny NPS boost from me saying bye to a passenger. Continuing to be a decent person reduces the credibility of a narrative that says pilots are greedy, difficult people. So we win by not being viewed unnecessarily in a negative light without giving up any significant negotiating position.

I do not see how being difficult with passengers and other employees is going to get us anything. Other employees do have power to make our lives more or less pleasant in small ways (no matter how much the captain is in charge or has the parking brake). Why increase animosity with them when we aren’t negotiating with them and they have no ability to influence the outcome? It’s pretty obvious flight ops is going to continue trying to malign us as a group and I’m simply advocating to improve—or at least not worsen—things outside of the section 6 battlefield. I may be new here, but I’m not new at being a human being or dealing with people.
You're way over thinking this.

Just fly the contract. Nothing more nothing less.

DALPA will let you know about the rest. Don't be an odd ball. Support the effort. That's all you need to concern yourself about

It’s 1/2 of Reserve guarantee, not ALV

Fleets with multiple pay rates….

But yeah, “it’s easy”.

I feel like this statement hasn’t gotten enough direct attention since it was posted.

Can you provide any more info on this sentiment?

And what happens when they adjust your time card from 6 months ago? How do I know that the 7 hours they put on my time card that paid out 6 months ago ever hit my bank?

Dude...."it's easy" according to Trip.

Just check the pilot activity statement from 6 months ago.......oh wait...that doesn't get updated.

Then just check the Deltanet pay statement where it will be itemized....oh wait, it's not itemized.

Then....surely your timecard will show a remark on where / when the 7 hours will pay out.....nope....guess not....

Then go check the icrew pay statement, make sure you hit PF Key 6.9 to get to a printer friendly view, throw a virgin in a volcano, and get to the remark section where it *might* tell you.

Which icrew pay statement (current or from 6 months ago)? To quote Nate Bargatze "Nobody Knows"

Finally, I invite you to check out DALPA's new Compensation Handbook.....according to the overview "....provide the line pilot with a quick and easy reference to various compensation, scheduling, grievance decisions, and the Pilot Working Agreement rules and processes so that a pilot can understand how they are paid"

It's 103 pages long....."Auditing Your Pay" starts on page 100

Yeah that was a pretty tone deaf statement Trip made about pay

You summed it up nicely, thanks 👍

All the things we did legally to put pressure on them (i.e., being grumpy) is why when you got hired what, 18 months ago, you walked into a very nice contract.

"Killing them with kindness" when we're getting **** on is not a winning strategy. And it will show the company that treating us like crap is producing good results for them, and motivate them to continue to treat us like crap.

We need to negotiate from a position of strength and resolve at all times. Playing nice has never worked and will never work. Just the way it is.
I don’t disagree with any of your points. And, full disclosure, I’m one of the pilots that benefited from record hiring/movement as well as a great contract—and, as a mil guy, am VERY inexperienced with airline management.

My only thought is that the kid that wants to visit the flight deck doesn’t care about management/labor relations. He (or she) wants to talk to the pilots, get a card/wings, and then go sit down.

I’m never going to deny a kid that, no matter how mad/disappointed I am with the company. There are better ways than treating kids poorly, IMHO.
