Default Spirit[Assets]: [Delta] Has Entered The Chat

As I alluded to in a post on the airlines gone west section of the site, the company has retained counsel and is requesting notices and future followings in the NK bankruptcy proceedings

Looks like carrion is back on the menu boys. Poll for the significance

Replace “The Company” with “Delta Air Lines” and it makes much more sense. Not sure why the OP chose to word it this way. Might be a “they who shall not be named” type of thing.

I have no desire to do the carpet dance for my usage of the term vulture anywhere close to the brand 😂

That is how I usually refer to management on the line anyhow, and since we’re on the subform who could I refer to except the pilot group, dalpa/the association, or the company?

The company for which we both work has retained a law firm and joined the bankruptcy filing of Spirit. I can only guess it’s because we’re interested in acquiring some of their things but I obviously don’t know for sure. I do know we are the only airline to make such a filing.

Since we have MRO rights and we seem to love picking apart old planes for screaming deals (Lion Air, Air Tran 717s) it seems like we’d be interested in the NEOs with engine troubles

I’ll do it for you then.

Delta management = vultures. (Among plenty of other unflattering, yet accurate statements.)

I don't know for sure but it was my impression the vast majority of their remaining assets were leasebacks, no?

They still have a couple of mortgages but yeah the majority are leases. Most of the mortgages are being sold to some dumb named holding company, for which they are attempting to carve out additional DIP funding that way they can mix and match planes and engines and sell piecemeal to the only bidder. But, the leases are assumable and they are trying to get them assumed in BK as opposed to rejected because the terms are negotiable. It may be a way for us to get our hands on them.

It also seems that the engines are completely separate so we may be able to just snag some engines. The lead time on the fix used to be something like 300ish days. If we have a couple openings in the shop we could flip them pretty quick. It doesn't seem like anyone wants to be stuck with them so they might be at a steep discount

From what I understand, Delta has been using their order book of NEOs to create a bow wave to get ahead of the inspections. If they can get their hands on airplanes(or just their engines), they can bring more of the parked, fleet ready, engineless new planes onto the line while the Spirit NEOs go through standardization
