Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Denny,
I'm not starting that rumor. I'm just saying, to compete we have to have the right sized aircraft to capture and maximize revenue flows. Those airplanes will be flown by Delta pilots. The 717 (and to some extent the damned 76 seaters) are the right size. Think about what we are allowed to put on Alaska's airplanes ... those numbers correlate with our new fleet kinda nicely 'eh? It probably means more in New York, but I'd sure like to see some 717's out west.
Management is happy ceding revenue if they can't fly it and make a buck. Having a mainline fleet that does not have many options below 160 seats is a problem. However, when we have the right tool for the job and can make a buck, that is what management would prefer to do.
Alaska is not "free." When our passengers get on their airplanes that is lost revenue for us.

It would be nice to actually compete with AK rather than cede flying to them. (I know we don't collude 'cause that's illegal.)
I do hope this "wishful thinking" (based on good judgment) comes to fruition.
Different subject, do you have any idea what the price of oil needs to be at to make the 50 seaters viable again?

Considering the very costly high-cycle heavy check, they would have to create oil to be worth it. These one-time overhauls are supposedly so cost-prohibitive, it's cheaper to just buy a used one on the black market. I don't know if Delta has even done one yet; Comair's aircraft were just scrapped.
Denny and Bar, posted a table for you in the TA has a flaw thread.

DALPA DOES NOT REPRESENT LAX PILOTS. The previous post about buying the cow while the milk is free says it all. BUT!!!!!! What if those cows were in ATL? The milkers of those cows would care A LOT more.

True, for the 76. Take a gander at the 73 trips. More appropriately, take a look at the trips in open time for the category. This TA does not address the three-day MCO red eyes that report late and earn you the whopping total of 10.3. Under this TA, those remain....and they'll remain in open time.
Keep in mind that in both the 76 and 73 these are lines as awarded. A significant number of pilots will improve their lines through swaps and drops/pickups. As on the 767 this includes vacation since its to hard to break out and was CA lines only.
