I agree we need a junior guy in ATL. My debate on putting my name in the hat is complex.
I think that any 07 hire that wants to run will be able to hold on to ATL, the question is will they run. We have some very qualified people for this job.

A person cannot run on scope alone. It needs to be deeper than that.
Run on transparency, which is something the current MEC is clearly lacking.

Unless it involves confidential information, the MEC should not be operating in secrecy and then releasing the tiniest tidbits of information weeks or months later.

The last time a NW MEC Chairman tried to do things on his own, we recalled him.

The MEC Chairman's power should lie in controlling the Agenda of a meeting. The LEC Reps power lies in their votes as the elected reps of the pilot group. The MEC Chairman only gets to vote in the event of a tie.

No MEC Chairman should be allowed to appoint 99% of the committee chairmen. That job should be left to the elected reps.

An MEC Chairman should NOT be allowed to sign an agreement without a vote by the LEC reps.

An agenda item at an MEC meeting should NEVER be allowed to be tabled or eliminated in subcommittee. The subcommittee should make recommendations or amendments and then it should be brought back to the MEC as a whole for a vote. This was the policy at NWALPA and was written into the policy manual with the help of Bob Savelson. Allowing things to be killed in a subcommittee allows the person that sets the agenda, see above, to kill resolutions he/she does not like. Let all the LEC reps decide, not the MEC Chairman.

The MEC should publish bullet points after each day of an open MEC Meeting.

I would like to see someone run on a platform that returns the power to the elected reps and promotes timely communications to the pilots.

Turn on the lights and watch the cockroaches scatter.

I agree 100%. It too was a little surprised on how we elected/nominated our committee chairpersons.

I agree that we need to be as transparent as we can be without eroding out negotiating position.
