Maybe he's sick and tired of having to tell young people asking about making this a career that they'd have to be crazy to do it unless they want to work cheap and more than likely for less and less as the years go by.

OK. that's what I thought--the company can turn off the early outs any time it wants, and without DALPA's approval. Thanks for confirming.

How does this TA allow us to work for LESS? It actually builds upon where we want to go, which is higher, in a shorter amount of time compared to regular section six negotiations and contracts. Shorter duration contracts at about 20% pay raises is the way to go. It appears the NMB won't allow 50% pay raises all at once (look at APA and their being sequestered for over a year by the NMB). I think you might have it totally wrong....

No, all 744A's can request an early out (except Carl) and it will be approved! July 1st also. They can all leave on the 2nd, and then we can all look at the 15 744s on the ramp, with the remaining one flying continuously with CARL at the helm. I can't wait! Move over Bacon....

then why did we expend any negotiating capital to get this program, which can be discontinued at the company's sole discretion anyway?

also--the 50 seaters were going out "relatively soon anyway," too. but that didn't stop DALPA from giving something up in return for...nothing.

There are still leases on the 50s that can't be broken. Why would they from the manufacturer side or the regional side? If the contracts were broken, where would those planes go? The manufacturer either wants a better deal (a trade up for something new), or they will leave it the way it is, and if there isn't an ability to add more 76 seaters, they will probably fix those older ones to continue the feed abiltiy. So, all you have left is the continuation of a 50 seater, for many more years. Thanks for that!

with engine and heavy checks coming up at more than $2 billion, the company can dig a little deeper if they want to avoid that expense.

So, it's a money thing, not against more 76 seat RJs? Ah, got it.

So Bleater Lumberg, for the past 10 years you've been encouraging young people to throw their money and time away chasing a career that can best be described today by beginning with "once upon a time"?
