This all makes sense to me. There were 2 Lumbergs in the movie Office Space. Coincidence?

I would love to have heard the conversation when they touched down...

"Geez, for a MAC runway...this sure looks short!"

When I was flying C-141s at CHS in the late 1980's we had a crew (from our sister squadron I must admit) that shot an approach to the same civil airfield by accident, realized it on very short final, and went around to recover to McDill without incident. Only problem: they were in the McDill O Club bar having drinks when the news on the bars TV showed them approaching the civil field, almost landing, and going around to the REAL McDill.

AC called CHS HQ and they fessed up. A new crew flew down and recovered the jet and busted crew.

Plus one hoser, your's shouldn't have been deleted and mine shouldn't have. Calling a spade a spade shouldn't get posts deleted.

I would really like to read it here, on this board.

"Bill has asked twice for TT letter to be posted on APC. The first time, he was told to read it at DALPA. Now he's asked for it a second time.

Bill are you a DAL pilot?"

I feel vindicated. I had a feeling about it. I asked this question on 6/24/2012 in post #39 in the O'Malley's rebuttal letter to C20 thread. He kept asking to have the letter posted. I wondered why he didn't go and read it at DALPA.

Here is his response in post #41 in the same thread.

"Of course I am, but I stay away from the Dalpa board mostly. Talk about a viper pit! A bunch of grouchy meanies on there. I prefer the nice, laid back, family style board called APC. Ahhhhh, like a breath of fresh air...."

Honestly, I thought he was a management pogue. Apologies to all the management pogues out in APC land.

I just "ignored" BL, but it showed him banned. Is that correct.

Yep, he's banned, he's a liar, and I wouldn't want to fly with him regardless of who he flies for with deception like that.

Hate to thread drift from the latest and greatest about bill lumberg, but I was wondering about Delta's next hiring window. Did the new contract put a hold on the Fall '12 plan? Who is usually the first to know/post these things before it's "official"?

This has been posted before, but it's from our Senior VP of Flt Ops on June 8th:

"Finally, I know the big question out there on the line as you hear about mainline growth is how that will impact our pilot staffing and whether it will jumpstart pilot hiring. It’s been no secret that we are looking at a wave of pilot retirements over the next few years as pilots begin to approach age 65. Because of that, our pilot hiring group has remained active since we stopped our last round of hiring in 2010, and we are prepared to start the hiring process on short notice. While our hiring is ultimately based on the Network block hour plan, which in turn is affected by the economy, all indications are that the addition of 717s and the opportunity for pilots to take advantage of the Pilot Retirement Medical Account (RMA) early retirement option will accelerate movement across the seniority list and require us to begin hiring earlier than the planned pilot retirements alone would have. If Delta can continue to execute its business plan, including the 717s, and barring an economic downturn or other unanticipated event, we could begin the hiring process as early as the last quarter of this year."
DAL is waiting on the outcome of Early Retirements first, done by July 30th, before making decisions on hiring.

I knew there was something off with that guy. It was complicated by the fact there is a BL over at FI that seems to be a decent dude.
