Since hiring is about to start any minute at Delta, I have a letter of rec question: I'm currently mil leave but I have a few acquaintances asking for letters even though I have not flown with them. Will a letter from an inactive DL pilot carry any weight?

That's how I got the interview... I knew 2 retired guys, none active. Good luck!

Man, where do you come up with this crap? 250 guys retiring early, 30 more MD90's coming, 88 717's coming, 737-9's coming, and in 2013 age 65 retirements kick in (although very slowly). Only way you're getting displaced is if you're on the DC9 & that's a good thing. You're either going to go to a much nicer airplane (717) or to a higher paying airplane. Win win.

I'm just as cynical as Elvis. I see most, if not all, of these aircraft you so gleefully list as replacement aircraft. So, as the 320 has slowly gained in seniority and it is slowly replaced it will thus require displacements off of the category. I fear the next two AEs will once again result in a lot of displacements throughout the system as the company replaces aircraft and right sizes the staffing of categories.

In Nov 11 I was displaced from MSP A320 to MSP MD88. In Jun 12 I was displaced from MSP MD88 to ATL MD88. My fear is another displacement, probably to NYC MD88. I don't believe this August AE will staff 717s; that will likely be an Oct 12 AE.

Hence my concern that AE = displacement. However, with more MD-90's being added to MSP & ATL, then I'll probably be able to stay put, which is my desire. I'd like to stay on a plane for at least a year to learn it!

The first 717 staffing has been stated that it wont be on this AE... they arent coming until over a year from now.

Do we have to wait until we report to book a DH Deviation at the end of a trip? Or can we book it before the trip starts?

You have wait until report. If you have a front end DH as well, the time is the original report time not when you deviate.

I was always under the impression that you had to complete your trip before you could request to deviate from deadhead. That's what I've always done.

.......

Oh, disregard, 80 & dragon have the answer.
