As ftb said, that sounds weird.

I fear the AE would then be designed to encourage RMA's, i.e. ugly.

Just curious, why would you think that all will be refilled when there 30% is carried on RSV.

3 aircraft at a time through November in lie flat mods = ~ 40 crews (double crewing) worth of flying. Soon as the mods are done + RMA's and they'll need to backfill and award.

Alright, raise your hand if in your brain you said:

"The rhythm method"

So these 240 RMA guys are pilots that were not required to ever retire, right? I mean tell me these guys were not about to retire anyways, right?

You know what they call couples who use the rhythm method?

Parents.

I think that's where Hockey's 40% came from...as in 40% effective.

So after work rule changes, how many fewer pilots do we now require?

And just as curious, going forward for every new aircraft added to the fleet, how many fewer pilots are now required per aircraft? Wasn't the 717 staffing based on 14 pilots per aircraft vs the 10-11 ish we use now on the 88? Is it still14?

I think the folks that pull their papers won't do it for necessarily logical reasons. For many, this rma offers a really good deal. Others are tired of flying and ready to go. Others were going anyway and this puts them over the edge.

If you took a leave of absence of (lets say) 6 months, I suspect many older pilots would probably not want to come back either. Life, free of outside intrusions, is not bad.

Newk, I say this with the utmost admiration, but you're going to have to kick it up a notch...
