If I remember correctly, in the multi-page book they put out with Contract 2012 goals, holiday pay was one of them. So, somewhere there was input that it was desired - it just didn't make it into the contract.
Also, night pay, please. |

That's why they were hiring in the summer of 2010. So I guess that when I get robo-calls every day on my days off, then hiring should be commencing? Probably a decent measure. :D

FMLA is also NOT paid.

Yes, it does. Here is relevant part of the implementation schedule:
Effective January 1, 2013: o Elimination of 75% pay for sick leave and the associated rolling three-year bank o Requirement to verify individual sick leave occurrence that is 15 days or longer o Ability for a pilot who returns from disability and who has exhausted his sick leave hours for the current sick leave year to elect to transfer up to 50 hours from the subsequent sick leave year accrual There are more items under sick leave but this one answers your question. Virtually every professional non-pilot I know is able to use personal sick time to care for an unwell family member. Maybe it's time we lobby to be able to do the same?

Is there anyway to get your sick time back if you are out on OJI and burn your sicktime? It seems like a big penalty if you can't for an OJI injury.

1. Calling in sick is illegal, so not an option, unless you have no integrity.
2. FMLA is available, and you can move unused vacation into the time period to get paid. Not exactly correct PG. States have different versions of Family Medical Leave. This is legal in California (CA KIN Care) and the LAX CPO and the DAL schedulers are very familiar with it. You call and sick and tell them its for your spouse (try to remain calm PG :) ). It works like regular sick leave (full pay) with the added bonus that you even get to keep your integrity. Not sure where your are based but you may want to check out the FMLA or see if your state has a similar law. Good luck. Scoop |
