Thanks. Have been in touch with her. I just did not know if the CP can reinstate some of your sicktime or not. Just seems odd if they can not do to an OJI.

We need to re-pursue this next contract. There wouldn't be nearly the stress on the reserve system, slips, sick, if guys could bid to fly trips for holidays and reimbursed accordingly. Like Timbo pointed out, we're the only employee group who doesn't get paid more for working on holidays. Where's the "me too" in that?

Also, night pay, please.

Those things, especially holiday pay, would be free for the company because they would dramatically cut down on sick calls and the resulting perpetual self induced panic green slip crisis every holiday.

WRONG. If you fail to meet the criteria of the IMSAFE checklist, the FARs prohibit you from legally operating the aircraft. It does NOT mean Delta is obligated to PAY you. Delta's obligation falls under the PWA, and has been explained in other posts.

And sickness is defined in the contract, but it's somewhat of a grey area. If one feels they meet the definition of sickness in the PWA, they are completely within their contractual rights to call in sick. With over 11,000 pilots there will be many different interpretations of the definition. People have different immune systems, different tolerances, etc. It simply can not be whittled down to a black and white definition. What you may consider not to be an illness, very well could be an illness to someone else. If the company feels someone is abusing sick time usage, they'll address it. :)

Additional Perk of Holiday Pay

The PILOTS are still the only Dept. that does not get 'premium pay' for working holidays.

In addition to compensating those who work on a given holiday, it also can make a trip that works on a holiday a bit less junior than it would have been without the credit. So not only those who work it benefit, but those who want the holiday off have a slightly higher chance of getting the holiday off as a few people senior to them chase the extra pay.
