Looks like we have a big surge of flights going down to SXM and MCO for carnival charters. A330, 764, 763, & 752's. I wish I could find a link to that Motley Fool idiot that said Spirit was going to kick delta's butt because we're too big and "inflexible." Find another airline that can instantly come up with 4000+ seats.

I hate to disagree but.....I thought our capacity discipline would have all of our "big iron" seats filled to capacity. Why are these planes even available? They should have sent the dozens of under utilized A320's. After all....that airframe has no frills and is not being utilized.

I agree. For a operation as big and complex as Delta to to flex that much and re-allocate jets and crews in that amount of time is clearly impressive. You can bet there are a lot of guys working some serious overtime. I hope some guys are getting some double-time out of the deal.

I'm certain there are always operational spares sitting around. Capacity discipline is more about frequency, rather then hulls. I bet those charters bring in much more profit then revenue flights.

We should send our old, crappy, outdated, underutilized airbuses. :D

Ugh. Don't get me started. NWA should've put IFE in them.
I hate to be a pessimist here but I do find this "leaked" information a bit fishy considering we are trying to survive another AE. The carnage on this AE has a bunch of people really flailing...again... |

Keeping in mind the guys on these pieces of equipment are not at all junior, I hope some of the "junior":) guys are getting a shot at a rare gs.
Yeah, it would be nice to see some junior guys getting some good deals, but the junior jets don't tend to be the jets that are sitting around at the hub for an extra 10 hours, and an airport like SXM can probably handle 4-5 extra widebodies at a time better than they can handle the number of MD-88's it would take to generate an equivalent number of seats. Apparently there are over 4000 people on that ship that need to get home. Either way it's good news for Delta, maybe not necessarily for the pilots. I'm sure Carnival will be writing a very large check that nobody planned for. |

The first buses did have IFE in them. NWA paid to have it removed.
