I Lol every time I see you make fun of your coworkers. I think of how arrogant your above statement is. Why do you think less of your fellow coworkers who see things different than you? Many of your coworkers, many years senior to you, saw that statement as an end to years of stagnation. Did you see I said many years senior? These folks were hired a decade or more before you but are still junior with the company. Try to put your high 5 digit seniority number in their shoes. Only then may you truly understand their angst. Btw, I am junior too. The world does not revolve around me though.

In 2007/8 an on-board server was being developed for A319s in which passengers could access content, paid and free, from their own mobile devices. The airline that was developing this went out of business, however they had already implemented a cockpit server for EFBs. Just so happens a retired Delta VP was instrumental in this program. Wonder if we'll see him again?

The option to access the internet and aircraft intranet via wifi is the logical choice with the proliferation of smart phones and tablets. Delta could easily develop an app that accesses Delta aircraft intranet services. The important modifications that need to be made are electrical outlets or usb charges at every seat.

This is being looked into as we speak. It's still a few years out though. In it's final form, it will tie into the tablet device that we are all supposedly getting, beginning with the 717. It's the long term solution but in the meantime expect to see a mix of options. The international fleet should be wifi capable by the end of this year.

So my difference of opinion makes me arrogant, while other's difference of opinion makes them a victim?

The phrase clearly used the term "may" and everyone knows NOTHING in this industry is guaranteed. Why are people so hung up on it? And where did I make fun of any of my co-workers?

I have been holding off on a tablet purchase for just this reason, and I see Delta's delay in implementing a tablet as a good thing. Those airlines currently using Ipads basically have a really expensive chart/pdf reader. A tablet is very close to a class II EFB and as such should have more capability than simply viewing documents. For example, with sat com and wifi, an EFB can easily replace ACARS and be more effective. In the end, I hope Delta is performing due diligence and perhaps learning about the limitations of the using Ipads. What we would end up with would be a much better tool, but it won't be Apple.

You mean like this:

Oct 5, 2011
...Delta is launching a new feature through on-board Wi-Fi: entertainment on demand. Beginning today, entertainment on demand will be available on all 16 of Delta's Boeing 757-300 aircraft. Choices will include an introductory price for television programming starting at $.99 and movies available for $3.99 from major Hollywood studios. Customers can sort titles by genre, length of feature, movie or show and other categories. Trailers are available for complimentary viewing prior to rental.
Cheers
George

Positive thing about delta. Got a call from cpsc notifying me of a positive space commute because a fed took my jumpseat. I'm on earlier flight but nice touch. Didn't even know about faa.

You were making fun of somone earlier about them not believing the more frequent bids statement.

You said it was clearly stated that they were going to happen more frequently, while the wording was identical to the hiring process statement by SD.

Well, now its come out that the next bid will be spaced out at least as far as normal... what do you have to say about that and your decision to consider one clear and one not so clear?

MrBojangles 03-15-2013 09:25 AM

Personally, I knew that the "we MAY need to hire" thing was BS. Any time something is worded that way it's usually not going to happen. That and the fact that they were using it as a selling point for the TA. I just can't believe so many guys fell for it. A lot of the ones that are mad we aren't hiring probably voted for it.

I did not make fun of him. He asked a question. I answered it. There was no making fun of anyone. I'm not sure what you're asking me, as I simply pasted a statement from Crew resources into my post. No where in that post did I state smaller, more frequent bids were guaranteed.

Interesting George. I did not know about that. It would be even more intriguing to see how well this was doing and whether those aircraft also have seat back IFE?
