Why would they say more frequent if the "new" spacing approximates the current normal? (there are typically 3 bids a year- averaging every 4 months)

IDK. Maybe they'll change their minds. Maybe it will be a smaller bid, & they'll become more frequent after that. Why do they use a lot of the words they use? I'm blaming it on lawyers. :D

FYI, Just found out that when you retire you get blocked from the Delta Pilot Forums. Oh Well. I guess you have to pay dues to stay informed about a company you worked for for 27 years.

There's information on the DALPA forum?!:p Don't worry, stay on APC and you'll be up to speed, or PM me and I'll tell you all the state secrets.

I would think going to the monthy "ae" process NW had (or similar) would enable them to react quicker/quickly to changing conditions. Something that could be of benefit?

The company is free to post bids monthly, weekly or even daily under the current contract.

I hate to disagree but.....I thought our capacity discipline would have all of our "big iron" seats filled to capacity. Why are these planes even available? They should have sent the dozens of under utilized A320's. After all....that airframe has no frills and is not being utilized.

I don't know the dates on these charters but with day of the week scheduling we always have a bunch of airframes parked in Atlanta on weekends.

Interesting George. I did not know about that. It would be even more intriguing to see how well this was doing and whether those aircraft also have seat back IFE?

Nah, this is the BYOD version of IFE...
There's a on-board hard-drive on the jet's internal WIFI network. The HD is preloaded with movies to reduce bandwidth use on the GOGO ATG system. Passengers stream the shows from the WIFI network to their own device...

I haven't tried it but you can apparently finish watching a started movie up to 24 hrs after the flight.

Cheers

Just like with many other things enough time has to pass. Then the USAFA grads will implement it and call it their idea.
Sorry couldn't resist :D
Love them anyway.

The charter pack shows them running 18 live legs and about double that number of ferry flights. They started this morning and go through the 17th. A330s, 764, 763, 752, 737, and 320s. Unfortunately it looks like they managed to cover it all with only a few green slips.

I obviously have too much time on my hands.

If you need to get from MCO to ATL it should be pretty easy this weekend with all the ferry flights running.
