Funny you should mention that frequent flyer thing, I just had a Fed Ex pilot on my flight from NRT-MSP last week. He was a Platinum type, sitting in First Class, and giving the Purser a hard time, asking for lots of free stuff, and more drinks, prior to push back! It's a 10:30 long flight, RELAX!

We nearly threw him off, but when he was told he would be out the door if he didn't shut the fark up, he finally did. Later the Purser came up front and said she had him on the way over to NRT a week earlier, same guy, was drunk when he got on, they had to shut him off before takeoff!

I agree. The money doesn't do me much good if I die at 67. I'm personally not interested in working at Fed Ex.

Am I missing something? Doesn't the majority of the senior pilots here fly back of the clock widebodies because that's where the money and QOL is?

Years ago when I was a DC-9 First Officer I flew a trip with a particular Captain. It was probably ten years later when I saw him again. He looked like "death-warmed-over". Yes, that bad, no exaggeration. Sure enough he was flying international.

Now he was no picture of health in his DC-9 days, but later on he was cadaver-like.

I do think however that with the change from the three man cockpits and 12 hour rules to the relief pilot era and eight hour rules the deleterious effect is lessened.

Yup. Some do. And some stay on NB aircraft. It's all a matter of perspective. Before MEM closed there were A320 CAs who could easily hold DTW 744 CA.

Flying international is a choice too. I have flown with many senior guys who give up the cash for a better quality of life on domestic aircraft.

Gotta love people who think just because they work in the industry they get a pass on behaving properly and following the rules/regs everyone else has to follow. I have no use for those among us in every walk of life who subscribe to the "do as I say, not as I do" mentality. Unfortunately, it happens more often than it should. I guess they like embarrassing themselves in public. :rolleyes:
