Inexplicable:The amount WB FOs that bid narrow body captain. (It will probably be mainly north guys doing this as we had a tendency to hire more public school kids than on the south side.)
The Unbelievable: With all the shake up and WB FOs bidding narrow body CA the 747 goes insufficient bidders from the north guys on the B side, allowing the first South FO on the airplane. (Can you say rest break controversy!)
Guaranteed: *****ing about the results.

That's some funny stuff right there.

That is being taken out of our control... at least from what I can see anyway.

Oh, no, no of course I think we can! You and I can find hundreds! But we don't run the programs.. Once we do I am sure everything will be perfect.

PS. SD has not finished the A320 training. He is in the beginning and very sporadic. He might never finish it, but I guess he wants some exposure?

Sorry but that is a one way street.

thats what she said?

That's true. Most of the higher ups in the 320 program were given the 737 types. They were very grateful class acts.

A real rest facility
Holiday Pay
Better vacation
Nice lounges to wait between flights
Free "points" for to replace uniform pieces
Van between Kew Gardens/LGA/JFK

We already have to fight that some of our flying is outsourced, now we have to fight the whipsaw that is our FAs too?

Yes but we also get to "sell" FA flying to JV's and DCI and get bargaining credits for that as well. Come negotiation time we really should start spreading that one around. Most of them have zero clue how scope works or even what it is in concept. DL pilots keep the airline together singlehandedly. About time they put some oars in the water and start rowing.

Sounds like that was a mistake. That needs to be changed for CBA and FAA because you're not in until you're in and you weren't in.

That is true, I think there are a great deal of decent guys that would be instructors in each category.
I find it is total BS that this guy is holding this seat OUT of seniority. I checked the Seniority list and he is shown as INS744B...nearly every pilot around him is holding the ER or smaller. A clear abrogation of our seniority system. If I was senior to him and had a bid in for that seat as a PMN guy I would seriously consider filing a grievance.

Well, look at the 777A instructors. Most if not all can't hold it either and have been doing it for years. It is what it is. i worked as a 727B instructor for 3+ years, it"s a good deal if you can get it. You get paid what you can hold up to a limit. I was getting L1011B pay back then and went back to the line as a 727A in NYC.

There is actually more the calculus than that. Not only do you have to know the airplane, be able to teach, but you have to be willing to live in ATL. With no more positive space, per diem and hotels, the 747 fleet is losing a huge number of DGS instructors, many of which literally wrote the original training program. Replacing all of them means you might have to make compromises.

From the fleet directors perspective, they like junior instructors because it helps out their budget in the "get paid what you can hold" scale. I would hazard a guess to say that there are other fleets that do the same thing, just not as high profile.

They are hiring more instructors, if you know the airplane, apply.
