They get me too pay on everything. Get over it. Its not going to change. Keep in mind however that they are very productive compared to most union flight attendants and their pay rate is well below some other airlines.

The first version out in 2019 will be the stretch which will hold over 400 people and is a direct 747 replacement. A shorter version the length of the current 300 will follow. The timing would about match payback for the new interiors on Delta's 747's.
It was also rumored that Boeing dropped RR engines from the option list because they did not want the engine going into a future super stretch A350 after they funded its development.

On the 777, the GE's are the better engines.

I'm sorry but there is a huge difference between the experience and qualifications necessary for a major pilot vs a flight attendant, which some airlines hire not to far removed from high school. The moment the company brought up the me too factor I would dismiss it. By the mere fact that ALPA even acknowledges this means that we are taking concessions before our negotiations even start.

Furthermore, we choose to worry about "me too" flight attendants while we have a c-class group of ALPA pilots flying 90-seat CRJs and E-175 for less than what a high school to cabin flight attendant makes, that is seriously misguided. The flight attendants turned down union representation, they are not ALPAs responsibility.

Sailing, I think the average pilot is figuring out that ALPAs senior leadership has been bought off long ago, ALPA has taken the position of not just mediation between pilots and management, but DALPA actually produces the spin.

I believe you are correct. I read an article on it last week but forgot the time frame for the board decision.

Sounds like the 777x may come before the 787-10
HeraldNet.com : Boeing could push 777X ahead of 787-10

Since we're starting to do some of the same customer service roles that they do (delay PAs in the plane, delay PAs at the gatehouse, engaging with customers while not flying the airplane, etc) maybe we can get some of the benefits the FAs get to keep them "chipper and ready to serve the customer" like:

A real rest facility
Holiday Pay
Better vacation
Nice lounges to wait between flights
Free "points" for to replace uniform pieces
Van between Kew Gardens/LGA/JFK

We already have to fight that some of our flying is outsourced, now we have to fight the whipsaw that is our FAs too?

I never once said we negotiate for the flight attendants. Management however has to keep the other employees happy and productive or the airline goes out of business. They have to weigh anything that we get against what the other employees will think and what will have to trickle down to them. To think or believe anything else makes no sense. If we get door pay I can assure you the flight attendants will get the same. A new union vote push has already been started by the IAM.

Excellent, excellent point.

The Unbelievable: With all the shake up and WB FOs bidding narrow body CA the 747 goes insufficient bidders from the north guys on the B side, allowing the first South FO on the airplane. (Can you say rest break controversy!)
Guaranteed: *****ing about the results.

I doubt the 747 stuff....... Almost all guys on the 747B list want to be there and don't plan on moving from what I can tell. The top 90+ 747B's all have over 25 years seniority!

Yes, Management will always weigh everything we succeed in getting against how it will impact the other employees. That is their job. Amazingly enough you do need a few other employees besides pilots to run a airline.
The flight attendants at Delta if you stack them up against a industry average are way behind where we sit as pilots relative to our peers. I would also check on that vacation thing!

Good. I'll be in full support of their efforts as should you be as well.
