Are you junior Delta pilots seriously beotching/venting about life for a 2008 hire to now? You do realize the life of a RJ FO that was DOH in 2008, is, surprise! Still a RJ FO. There are thousands of pilots with applications at Delta that would love to be in your shoes.

Just went to "The Left Seat" 2 weeks ago. Good stuff, really enjoyed it. Talked to 767/757 fleet guys and they said that we are going down to 60 757's soon!!!!! I'm assuming he meant -200's and not including the -ER's from TWA. VERY dissapointed to hear that. To be replaced by an underpowered 737. Our dear 757's are twice the jet a 73 is!!!!!

That's consistent with what I have heard too: around 100 total 757s staying for the long term. Sounds like we might be keeping 60 or so plain domestic, another 30 or so ETOPS variants, and of course the 16 757-300s.
I also heard there's a possibility of going up to 200 seats on the plain domestic variant to improve the economics against the 321s & 739s, which will be 180 seats. At first I read that as 60 757s total!!! Being down to only 100 757s still stinks though. |

Sorry.
I was talking about increasing the capacity of the 757-200 to 200 seats, improving its economics against the 739/321, which has better economics. |

With the massive job loss you claim we should have a surplus this summer.

Read the above post about how short they actually are. With the same number of block hours this summer as last summer why did flight ops want to hire? I mean they have hundreds if not thousands of surplus pilots.
