Scoop, add to your list of reasons not to hire -

1) desire to show a profit so as to be considered investment grade,
2) desire to show a profit prior to a merger,
3) desire to show a profit
4) collect pants
5) ?
6) profit

Some of the goals you mentioned above are very legitimate, and can mean a lot more money for Delta. Showing a profit for (I think) 4 consecutive quarters... could be more) leads to getting an investment grade. Being investment grade is HUGE, and if that could happen before we open the contract again, there should be a lot more $ available to us...

Reserve or lineholder? If RES, awesome.

It'd be sad if he dropped his entire line and picked up 5 2-day trips on GS.

Not to mention that if he did that they would be paid at straight rates.

I'm thinking both.

5 days total next month where reserve coverage exceeds reserves required NYC-7ERA.

Summer is gonna be lucrative for the senior guys...

Oh, yes...there it is again.

"we'll get them next time."

Having a bunch of $ "available to us" in C2012 resulted in a concessionary contract.

Can't wait to see how much negotiating capital our "union" can pi$$ away next time.

Heard to day from a reputable source: displacements off the 7er, more flying for the 88. Net plus. Small bid. Probably no 717 action on this one.

"Yeah. I GOT 5 GSs!!!!!!" To find out that it doesn't work that way.

But I doubt anyone around here would mess that up after all of these years.

Yeah SD's Flight Ops Weekly Update is out on the subject.

FTB cliff notes: This AE and Surplus bid will make staffing adjustments for fall of 2013 and spring of 2014. Since the last AE they've received clarity from Network and thus will take this opportunity to adjust staffing accordingly focusing of course on 7ER, 88 and A320.

Conversions/training off this bid would be as early as July and completed by December of this year.

So maybe those A321s are coming in a hurry and we need fewer 7ER pilots because we need fewer 757 pilots?

Scoop

It could also be that they use a standard template for painting gates. In most airports these type functions are controlled by the airport authority and don't even involve Delta. If anyone thinks that Delta concluded a secret deal to purchase aircraft for near term delivery and went out and ordered ramps painted before anything else they are smoking something I need to get a hold of when I retire. The RFP's are for deliveries starting in 2015.
