The company has decided it makes economic sense to carry all the extra pilots as opposed to furloughing. That's their economic decision. Once again, we have a very large surplus of pilots at ma Delta. Carl What has happened though is we have almost completely vertically re-integrated seniority to aircraft junior to senior. Normally the SD memo's ref AE's are pretty cheery, school sprit day - this was notably subdued in comparison. Look out below...... |

I'm not the expert on the new FTDT stuff, but it seems like the Company might be able to avoid "dinner and a movie" rotations in the not too distant future and use those pilots as MD88A's.
It is not the kind of widebody flying movement we would like to see, but not disastrous either. End of the day, Delta makes some tweaks to increase efficiency. If we lose that to a FTDT PWA concession to un-augmented Atlantic operations it will be a major step backwards for all of our careers. Don't forget that would also likely require a duty rig modification to make a 48hr international layover resets cost effective. You may however have hit on the key to why we are not hiring and the cannibalizing to staff what should be new hire aircraft. |

Some of the goals you mentioned above are very legitimate, and can mean a lot more money for Delta. Showing a profit for (I think) 4 consecutive quarters... could be more) leads to getting an investment grade. Being investment grade is HUGE, and if that could happen before we open the contract again, there should be a lot more $ available to us...

What's a dinner and a movie rotation -
Even seen one in the MD88; LGA>SJU>LGA. Took dial a flap 19 or some similar nonsense to avoid skipping across the bay on rotation. |

AKA "Caribbean Club"... an 8+ day line consisting of a Caribbean or Western Atlantic turn from NYC or ATL. They go uber senior.

I hope the rumors of displacements are not true. If it is true then it is complete BS. I am getting sick and tired of being LIED to by the fourth floor... After the last massive displacement bid, they came out and said this should be the last. We will be posting AE's for the new A/C. It is bad enough they were able to staff almost a quarter of our "growth aircraft" thru a displacement bid, now it appears to be continuing. I do not get paid to make these decisions and I really do not concern my self with how they decide to do it. But I do take offense to being misled by almost every leader in the flight ops dept. I do not believe for one second, that they do not have a plan on where we are headed. It must not be pleasant because they are certainly going out of the way to be deceptive. vent over.

Technically, DAL has enjoyed an "investment grade" Bond rating since at least JUN 2012. It is a good thing, but, I don't think enjoying that status has meant a whole lot to us as we take the Mad Dogs from the pound just prior to euthanasia.

Remember that video I posted from inside a tornado with that semi-tank like tornado chasing thingy.
Well, they should've stuck to the semi-tank like tornado chasing thingy... https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BLok1GACQAE-KaE.jpg One thing we learned from the movie Twister is a tornado will not pick up a red Dodge Ram. Trains? Yes. Dodge Ram? No. So if you're not in a red Dodge Ram, then at least fly this flag as a warning to mother nature... https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/i...BUO-YvV1tT8JZW |
