We are almost 1 year into this contract. Has there been any known harassment by the company on sick usage?

Here's one thing about sick calls and being a pilot- it doesn't take much to where we're not fit to fly. We tend to man up and do it anyways because we all know if we worked a desk job we'd still be functional. But flying airplanes is different. I bet if we had a Doctor checking pilots prior to show on every trip and they stuck one of those things up a pilots nose to check their sinuses I bet we'd have a lot more sick calls. I also think if they stuck something up your you know what, we'd have massive sick calls- most prior to show. :D
The problem is exactly as the company states, if you're sick don't come to work. But, people have a fear of calling in sick because of sick policies, hate going to the doctor for what's really a minor cold but you need the paperwork trail, fear of what if I really get sick for a long time, hate the part about talking to the schedulers and so on. However, if you come to work sick and you get the guy next to you sick that's no good. Period. Don't make the guy next to you use his sick call because he's sick! :D (pg just threw his coffee at the computer) |
The difference between being junior and senior....
Senior guys get grapes. Junior guys get cucumbers. :) |

DPA is amazed to learn that, once again, ALPA is not interested in enforcing existing scope language. Not only is Delta out of compliance in the Atlantic (AF/KLM JV), but now Delta is also out of compliance in the Pacific. Instead of enforcing existing language, ALPA has granted relief, costing all of us jobs and progression.
ALPA is not interested in representing the Delta Pilot group any longer as is evidenced by their inaction. Poorly crafted scope language is already allowing Delta to operate at least 9 daily round trip A330 flights across the Atlantic LESS THAN REQUIRED without penalty. Now we learn that Delta plans to operate 28 daily flights in the Pacific LESS THAN REQUIRED and without penalty and ALPA is okay with it. How many wide-body jobs are gone as a result of ALPA's refusal to craft or enforce any meaningful JV scope language? When will Delta Pilots realize that ALPA is incapable of properly representing us? I find it simply amazing that I find out more abou what the company is doing from an organization that is trying to become our representation rather than the one we have ALPA. Where is the outrage with our current unions inaction on the information above on regards to international scope? And once again DPA shows their cluelessness. I've talked to the reps... this is much ado about nothing. |

"DL flying" that we've contractually negotiated away... If we contractually do not fly 76 or less seat jets, how do we have any say in who or what accomplishes that flying for DL?

"I've talked to Obama. He said this whole government spying thing is much ado about nothing." Not very reassuring, is it? |

Shirley, you aren't comparing the two sites for entertainment value or, more importantly, accuracy of info. If so, you are banned to the dungeon that is the DALPA forum. Wear your cod piece.:D I would have expected better from an author. Unless you're calling him a girl... |

Fairly decent assessment. The problem I have is that the company came forth and said "we're going to violate your contract this summer...can we please keep our codeshare?" DALPA's response? "Ok. We'll negotiate something later." Influencing the outcome? Yes... but not after the most critical season of the year being waived on scope compliance. We'd better see some spectacular results on these negotiations.
Can you imagine how the company would react if DALPA did something similar to the company? I don't think it would be as lovey dovey. |
