I talked to them. There is no reason on getting spooled up about this at this point. My concern going forward is how it will be resolved going forward whether it be a percentage of flights rather than a number of slots. Call yourself and ask how much block hours have increased and whether it is worth getting worked up about a few slots in a hub that is probably going to die anyway in the future. The 787 that so many are drooling over is gonna fly right over the top of NRT anyway.

Hey Jackwagon, where did I say it's not his right to use it? All I said is the "normal" users will not hear a thing, and the heavy users MAY be asked for some documentation. If he is sick 7-8 times in a year he will have at least a few Dr. visits. No big deal. Quit being such a drama queen. Actually it's not my right to drive 60 in a 55 nor toss a cigarette butt onto the sidewalk as those are both against the law. I drive 70 in a 55(choose to break the law and take my chances) and don't smoke, and the furthest thing from being the sick call police. That is pineapple's job:)

True. You gotta like how (apparently) no one cares about the government trampeling the constitution, except when it comes to the 2nd amendment. Go ahead, track our emails, phone calls, internet records, get wire taps without warrants, go after the press when they leak something, as long as our guns are left alone. At least that's what the message seems to be so far. There was a far greater outcry about guns and the government then there is today with the government administrations basically ignoring the basic constitutional rights of Americans. I guess for many people, the 2nd amendment is the only one that matters.

that would be interesting. Of course in order to be valid, they would have to be a scientific sampling, and something tells me that they would only allow those that have signed cards to contribute. Therefore... invalid data. But by all means, if you can talk them into doing that, I'll listen.

Why should the company have the ability to determine how much sick time is "normal?"

Why should the company have unfettered access to our medical records after we call in sick 5 times a year?

I think we're all beginning to see how seemingly innocuous clauses (as ALPA would have us believe) will have some very undesirable unintended outcomes.

Make no mistake: this was (another) huge concession.

It you look at what we have done with AMS and CDG and our previous European point to point it speaks in favor of a long future for NRT connections even if Japan O&D shifts towards HND. While the Japanese want to get rid of 5th freedom, they can't for the time being and can only bypass by de-leveraging NRT through HND. ALPA is smart to evaluate and plan, but it is not some do or die emergency action item as some are suggesting.

Any claim that NRT is dead or on life support is fear mongering. DAL would no sooner pull the plug on NRT than they would LHR. If they are changing the NRT frequencies its because yield management is driving it. It can drive it back the other direction as well. Time will tell.

With the percentage of revenue that comes from our Asia operations I would expect the company to look at every opportunity to protect and build that revenue. The suggestion that they would kill NRT if we don't give them a (permanent?) exemption and that the MEC is protecting the pilots from the company drawing down NRT is preposterous.

Look at the official MEC response vs. who is yelling fire. I'm surprised we haven't heard from the usual suspects yet that the NRT slots are the reason we are not hiring. Why as are they trying to de-leverage ALPA's position?

Fly the airplane - cancel the warning - read the checklist - do not hurry

That is a fair assessment. evolving is a much better word than dying.

You mean like how nothing matters to the press except the 1st amendment, or to the current administration except the 5th?

Yeah, I got the reference. All I was pointing out was you got the quote wrong. Stryker used the word surely and and Rumack used the word Shirley.

Rumack: Can you fly this plane, and land it?
Ted Striker: Surely you can't be serious.
Rumack: I am serious... and don't call me Shirley.

According to a rep that I spoke to, we are talking about 5000 of 900,000 passengers. I am sure that is worth burning down the house over.
