LOL, We shall see. I have a nice cushion, no pun intended, in NYC. I just hope I don't go too junior on reserve.
I guess we may see it sometime tomorrow. |

If what S/F is saying is correct, I believe that means they will be displacing a ton of DC9 people (all of them?), which should fill up the 717's, but what about the 737's, will those be 'funded' by displaced 757/767 domestics?
I guess we may see it sometime tomorrow. Let's see how +717 works out for us. ;) |

Well, sometimes the AE isn't very interesting:
http://i914.photobucket.com/albums/a...r/Ginsburg.jpg But other times, people seem to be pretty excited it has arrived: http://i914.photobucket.com/albums/a...9a3bfd7747.jpg https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/i...n9AkVx2F_SKavQ wives don't like it when you forgot to bid. women never will forgot to bid. if you know what I mean. well, except one. and I like to remind her how I got a C in mate selection. one day she'll come back with a snappy response like she obviously would've failed had she taken such a dumb class.[greensmile guy] |
What happened to the 747/321 rumors

Depends on how many are willing to go to NYC. History has shown not many. Eager to see the bid. Good luck to us.

I saw the writing on the wall when I was 15 from the bottom of ATL M88B in Fall 2011 when they were closing MEM. This AE however has me completely perplexed. So many pieces with some WB spots opening up and Capt positions available on NB(717). 320 displacements, 737 opening in DTW, DC-9 closing. It would make your head spin if you tried hard enough. I don't think the junior peeps are eager to see the bid, we're eager to see the end result.

I would love to see 747's. I read the above article and its a very simple analysis that makes some strange assumptions and leaves maintenance out completely.
A) I have no idea what the maintenance costs are. B) By not adding maintenance costs, a cheap used 744 > brand new 77W. :D They're so many factors really starting with the primary question, what do we need? Lettuce say Carl's rumor is right, what are we to assume? Delta crunched the numbers and wants the 77W. So does every other airline, hence stand in line and get out the checkbook. Delta is cheap. Boeing is willing to make a deal. All that sounds very plausible to me. Especially in light of the fact that we have two aircraft types that seat 160 passengers, the MD-90 and 738. The 738 is a better airplane yet here we are scrambling to acquire 50ish used MD90s from any where in the world and have ordered 0 738s. I just wouldn't be surprised if we'd do something else that would be considered just as miserly.

There is one point in favor of the 747. Boeing is going to put the 777-X on the market in 2019. If we placed a early order for that aircraft Boeing might give us some 747 for almost nothing to cover lift requirements to the 2019 time frame.
Here's another, by that point (2019) 6 744s or nearly 40% of the 744 fleet will be 30 years old. The 744 is awesome, but is it a Douglas? |
