Analysts expect a profit of 68 cents per share, about $575-600M 2nd Quarter profit, minus $155M on fuel hedging losses due to the drop in oil prices.

Flight ops stated they would begin the hiring process by the end of the year. I suspect that means interviews with new hires arriving in Feb. That may change fast however. The entire world is melting down. If Europe does not achieve some degree of stability I would not expect hiring to happen.

Reserve Green slip with CQ pay question

On the time card under "Credit Applicable to Reg G/S Slip Pay": Does this show the running total pay for reserves as well?

Further down it shows "Res Assign-G/Slip Pay". I did a G/S worth 7:42 and it shows that.

I ask because I have CQ this month and the ALV is 79:30. Under the new contract this would be 77:30. However with CQ I have a "Credit Applicable to Reg G/S Slip Pay" of 79:45.

My main question is will I be paid 79:45 (Credit Applicable....) plus 7:42 (G/S)? Or will I be paid 79:45? I'm wondering if I did this greenslip for no additional pay.

Thanks for the insight.

You will get paid for both. Your total pay should be around 87:27 plus you should have had a payback day for the day off violated.

If the training capacity is true and is not increased I'm assuming they will have to be fat on pilots for a while in order to not get behind the curve of folks leaving..... Thoughts? Any truth to this?

The training department has sustained 100 new hires a month in the past. They contract out for some sims. They can handle 100 a month now doing the same thing. In fact with the new teach your self home study they can probably do more.

Is July 24,2012 a Federal holiday? ATL 320B. SIX guys on short call out of 13 on reserve tomorrow. Total pilots in category is only 70. What gives with all the short calls? I admit Delta does as Delta does. I hate driving from home to look at someone else's four walls.

Question for all you who know!

If I bid VD to a new category, and projected training ends up in a month with a commitment (let's say a wedding - not my own), is there a way to request that the training is not scheduled on certain days, or do I get what I get? I know for regular CQ I can bid "golden days". Just wondering if this applies for new category training too. Thanks!

Dude, I've experienced this many times on the 88 in ATL. I see no pattern, but I do see an arbitrary process. I completed my 6th short call on the 21st this month already.

They are getting close to the end of the month. If they have lots of short call availability, ie guys that haven't been assigned many short calls, they will double up to "catch up". You are better off to get them out of the way if you don't want to sit in a crash pad in fits and starts.

Shortcallpalooza.

Sometimes we require 14 on SC and don't have 14 available, in a category of nearly 100 reserve pilots. I think we end up putting line holders on short call.
