Sounds like Doug's breakfast with Horton last week didn't turn out how he wanted.

Interesting times.

Commentary after the article is interesting also

A year ago we were utilizing twice as many reserves as planned. Part of the issue was reserve base utilization and the other part was breaking trips up, when that was not necessarily required. They have worked in these two areas and as a result, reserves are working more in line with where the company wants their utilization.

I actually wasn't implying it was related to the new contract, although I can understand how it seemed that way. I was just expressing my suprise to how many more pilots are required in JUL/AUG. The utilization of reserves in those 2 months compared to the rest of the year is much higher. I suppose vacation plays a large part in that, as well as higher block hours. But it's still suprising to me.

Scheduling Question

I was considering a Swap with the Pot for a spill trip at the end of August. But I'm curious about whether it's pay protected or not. On Day 3 of 4 there was a charter repo leg that now shows CXD. So what will happen? A DH to DTW to finish the trip? A reroute to something different for less credit? If they alter the trip, do I still get the original spill credit for the Sep bid period?

The trips are so bad on the 320 in NY, that I'm thinking about bidding reserve. I commute from the West Coast and almost none of the trips are commutable on either end. I had more time at home when I was on reserve!

Once a trip is on your line that is the minimum for what you will get paid.

Jughead & I finished our CQ together today! We didn't know we were each APC-ers until I showed him & the instructor my iPad with Goodreader on it. I showed him the search function and he saw "Bill Lumberg" in the search section, because I searched our seniority list, then he said "He's a douchbag!", and I said, "Yes he is, and what's your member name?". Then I asked him, do you know FTB? CQ complete!

In ATL on the 88, I've worked every single reserve day in June & July. I'm sure August will be the same, but the wintertime is a different story.
