Last night was another NYC meltdown.

MD88 everywhere, 73 NYC ... speaking of which, did anyone know that some sexy Olympic sports actually have sexy Olympic Cheerleaders? That's got to be rolling thunder of some sort there:

... and you're completely right about VNAV ... an average pilot and a cup of coffee works better than V-NAV and is less likely to overspeed the jet or do the 1.5G to .5G "the wind changed three knots" bobble.

Baja.

I know Elvis90 has been getting hammered on M88 B reserve. If anything, we are properly staffed. Definitely not overstaffed IMO.
Delta staffs for the average, we're almost always short in the summers and fat in the winter. Just repeating what I was told by the ALPA folks in regards to our staffing.

Baja.
That's the flip side of a raise ... make the job more appealing ... many around my seniority were on mil bypass ... given the displacement pin action they were smart to wait it out.

In other news, I've not seen this "stock image" of "Delta" before. 717?

If so, looks nice

Which strengthens my point of us not being overstaffed.

Hey Bucking Bar --
I'm coming back to your jet.
This bid guarantees me a reinstatement.
Layover beers are on me.

Hopefully the next few AEs prove to be an overall net positive and reverse the trend.
This bid is only the first of 3 bids that will fill the RMA's leaving and staff for the flying schedule next summer. Until the final block hour plan is out from marketing we wont know what the next bids will look like.
For all the angst on the contract the net effect on jobs is expected to be 125 to 150 positions. That accounts for the 300 to 340 lost via the ALV 15 and 2 hour increase mitigated by the other productivity changes in our favor on the contract.
Contrast that with block hours. If the company decides to fly the schedule next summer with a net 5% reduction from this summer then we lose 500 plus jobs. Block hours are going to be what determines the next bids. The contract we just signed will have little to do with it. In the end it all comes down to the economy. Lets hope it improves.
