Any info on when the stock price may actually stop going down?

My opinion is that our stock has always reflected our balance sheet. We are one of the highest debt airlines out there. Wall Street knows this thus punishes our stock.

If anyone in my circle of friends had a debt/income ratio like Delta; we would call them "irresponsible". However, our mngmt team is praised .
Go look at any financial site. Our long term debt is over 40 billion dollars. We need to get this number lower and faster because UCAL is about to emerge as a solid competitor with about 18 billion dollars less debt than us.

Yep- people often forget about the massive pension obligations going forward.

Where did all that debt come from? I mean, it can't ALL be from buying 600+ RJ's, can it? I know that's DAL+NW debt, but $40 Billion? Please tell me some of that is long term DB retirement payouts.

When I was hired Delta had the lowest Debt/Equity ratio in the industry, and they said that was the key ingredient to them having never lost money for a single quarter, let alone a full year, but that was 5 management teams ago.

I remember when Mo'Ron started borrowing to buy MD11's, then LEO the CEO and RJ Fred bought a zillion RJ's, our debt went through the roof.

No wonder Anderson wants to park 200 of them and is only interested in buying 'used airplanes, cheap'.

Hmmm...I wonder who's got some used 777's they might not need?? :D

Yet another problem when the involved parties look no further than block hour costs to justify outsourcing.

Don't worry, Timbo. We just let them buy another 70 top of the line RJs. :)

On a brighter note, I have been holding a line since the reserve rules changed. Hopefully that continues because if it doesn't, I'll be in the weekends off, work everyday crowd.

Well isn't someone just full of sunshine and rainbows this morning!

No, I think DAL is in a position to exploit a few options.

They are looking for our help on HND. It serves us to keep service in an area where we could see a CS or JV and when that happens the flying would be harder to regain. Keeping block time on Transpacs=pilots jobs= good for DAL pilots.

Asia is growing, and Europe stinks. Why fight or not contribute to something that helps keep senior pilots in their current seats. Its good for every DAL pilot to keep a route on a very slot restricted airport?

BINGO. Not the item to push your will on. It helps us keep international block hrs. Easy decision and it takes a few minutes to do. Duh!

Correct. Our interests align with the company's on this issue. We supported the request for the slots, wouldn't it be stupid to no support keeping the block hrs?
