Is this better?

Cute, but without a SNB aircraft no additional dual class large RJ's, and we have still locked the ability to get above current Cap with the previous 3:1 ratio mainline threshold. If 717 were not to come another SNB aircraft could fulfill that role, as in the previously studied 319's. We are protected either way.

The biggest complaint I have is making sc assignments independent of the different buckets within same days of availability. If I've flown two 4 days putting me into bucket number two and then I'm first in line for short call on my next group of days on with the chance to go out on another 4 day all before a guy that is one or two numbers senior to me in bucket one hasn't flown one hour is frustrating to say the least. This has happening to me a few times. In the old system you were rewarded in a sense for working hard by being at the bottom of the list and reducing your chances of short call. Now if I go out on a four day I wasn't able to build my short calls up to the next bucket and will be number 1 for short calls when I get back even if in bucket number two or three.

Doesn't the system only show you the people who are available?

I think at the GOs is the right answer. Bus drops off outside security on lower level. Operating hours are varied. |

FTB,
Look at the the numbers posted above. We all have anecdotal stories but when the whole category is pretty much all flying similar numbers I would have to say the system is working. Scoop

Scoop, the thing is one day doesn't give a good indication especially since RAW scores count sick calls, MLOA, training (but not both days), etc.
I broke it out by where these pilots are in the reserve seniority list (top 25%, 2nd 25%, etc) and how many flight hours they have, which btw is still not a great indication of work load. For instance, I did a 4 day this month worth 15 block hours and it's nothing to have 2/3rds of your trip being deadheads. But: 185-2nd 25% 73 hours 164-2nd 25%, 51 hours 163-2nd 25% 64 hours 167-2nd 25%, 59 hours 170-4th 25%, 80 hours 168-4th 25%, 73 hours 166-4th 25%, 63 hours 173-4th 25% 78 hours 150-top 25% 36 hours 147-top 25% 38 hours 134-2nd 25% 60 hours 153-2nd 25% 63 hours 148-2nd 25% 57 hours 143-2nd 25% 45 hours 148-2nd 25% 56 hours 135-2nd 25% 56 hours 158-3rd 25% 50 hours 153-2nd 25% 56 hours 104-1st 25% 40 hours 109-1st 25% 39 hours 119-1st 25% 50 hours 153-2nd 25% 63 hours 108-1st 25%, 40 hours Would you rather have a system that gives a good QOL to a majority of the pilots or a few pilots? Or a system that has dramatic differences with a 10% difference of reserve seniority, not just category seniority? BTW, that list isn't complete by any means. I was senior on reserve this month and had a 87 raw score until this week. And like I said before, in months like May I was on landing currency warning. I was for a long time below 300 hours in a year and below 50 in a 90 day period. I've had a good time. Still I think this LC bucket system is not a good one either in design or in practice. Short call is what needed to be fixed, not long call. Now long call needs to be fixed by making the bucket thresholds a calculation based on parameters such that it drops when the ALV is low and increases when it's high. |

I appreciate your effort, I really do. I think we all do. And I'm not taking anything away from dipstick girl. On any given Sunday, she would be a fine contribution. But unfortunately, you have posted on Vandy Candy Sticker Boob Friday, which has clearly overshadowed your offering. Try again next Thursday. V/R, Jughead |
Is there any way to go back and have a vote on the scheduling LOA that brought on the reserve changes or are we just screwed? I really think the reps didn't represent us well in this one. They told me they had over 600 comments requesting these changes, but that's a drop in the bucket compared to how many pilots we have.

Also, put up that chart in the off months and we'll see a whole different picture. He's just taking a snapshot to justify his opinion when it doesn't fit what's actually happening most of the year. Oh well.
CAPT, I have been taking these snapshots since we switched to the new system - same result. When I was posting them in the Spring guys were saying "Wait until the Summer." Now that it is August you say we will see a different picture the rest of the year. My "opinion" is only based on what I am seeing - I have no stake in this new system. I did not design it and if I thought it was unfair I would say so. So what is happening most of the year? Even if the junior guys were being instantly flown into bucket 2 (raw > 80) don't they then go to the back of the list? Like I said any difference of more than 1 bucket is strictly random. So If junior guys are flying their butts off and senior guys are out golfing very day it is despite the bucket system not because of it. If there is not enough flying to get everyone into bucket 2 then great, the senior guys on reserve catch a good deal. If its such a good deal more and more senior guys will be bidding reserve and more and more junior guys will get lines. Seniority counts both with a line and with reserve. I still think seniority affect QOL more for line-holders than for reserve pilots. The difference between a top and bottom line is night and day. The difference between a top and bottom reserve is variable - it may be vastly different and the junior guy might get hosed but then again the senior guys might hosed. Scoop |
