Here's another play I've been seeing quite a bit of;
In my category, we only have one 'short' trip, a 10hr. two day. But some very senior guys bid them, then swap them for very high time trips. If you swap a couple 10. hr trips for a couple 30-38 hr. trips, you can go wayyyy over 100hrs. very easily. But see, not too many guys can white slip a 38hr. trip, as it puts you over the cap, so these guys have figured out a 'legitimate' work around.
Any wonder why we keep seeing displacements off the 777 ?
And that sh!t rolls all the way down hill.

There are lots of things that will prevent what you think will happen. I am not worried about it. Even if they go to the 48 hour layover they run a much greater risk of getting the flight canceled. I have been told one jet laid down in Europe costs the company 250K. They will also have to pay both pilots credit for the extra day. On some trips the credit for the CA and FO would almost match the cost of just putting the extra pilot onboard. They also will require more reserves if they go to all 4 day trips and have fewer pilots available for GS or WS when weather wipes out NY. They would double their hotel costs. On top of all that as you mention are contract does not allow it.
There is a rumor out there that we signed an NDA with American as LCC has done, only we along with a couple other unspecified companies, did not want to be identified as having signed one....any one have any scoop...
Add in other non-merger factors, such a low pay driving desperate bhavior, an ultra-permissive swap system that lets people get around max pickup, and we're slowly getting to an FAR-limit-only airline.
It's completely backwards from where we should be, but it is what it is.

In regards to the upcoming work rules, there is not much the company can't get from us (contractually) for an additional 3% of pay and they know it. I either read or was told that the contract survey indicated that we as a group were willing to work more for more pay, or something to that effect, thus the higher ALV.
It's the trend line that's disturbing, we continue to allow ourselves to work more and more.

With the increased vac pay, training pay, ADG, and reserves getting ADG, those combined will pretty much offset the increase in the TLV/ALV so most pilots will get paid that extra hour pe month and work the same amount they are now.
Heard the same thing when everyone else was signing them. I have no facts to back it up with though.
wow... no bidpack out with 6:15 left to go until bid window opens. Never seen the bidpack come out so late. Looks like someone at Mecca actually went on vacation this weekend!
