Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?

short sleeve, long sleeve, sweater, no-sweater...doesn't matter at all.
Look decent in something with a collar and wear socks, and don't wear jeans or gym shoes.

TBoneF15,
Thanks for the info, that's what I was hoping. The second Monday is when the wife comes out right? I'm guessing cocktail attire for her?

It's the second Monday, i.e. one week after you start indoc. It's a very nice dinner at a great restaurant with an open bar. Wives all wore cocktail type dresses and such. Dudes wore their standard interview/indoc-day-one type suit.
They'll fly your wife out (not girlfriend, unless she has a ring on her finger or you plead a good case to BB). Most wives fly out Sat or Sun and stay until Tues am, but Delta doesn't really care what days they travel. They could probably travel out a soon as Thurs (maybe) but it takes some time for Delta to arrange all the flights. You'll fill out a sheet early in indoc with her preferred times to travel to/from and they'll try to get her reservations as close to that as they can. I'm sure she could stick around past Tues morning if she wanted to, but you'll be at work all day so unless she has some wheels or something to do, she'll be bored. You may also have a ton of studying to do, depending on what training date they give you (couple in my class started the day after indoc...I started 4 days later). You'll need to muddle through a systems training CD at a minimum before you show up for training (it takes a while), but the more studying you can get done during indoc the better as far as I'm concerned. I guess my point here is, you might not want her around all week as you won't be able to get anything done.
Realize, you'll have to do a jumpseat observation trip on EITHER Saturday or Sunday (you don't overnight anywhere) that middle weekend, so keep that in mind for your schedule if she's flying out and expecting to spend time with you. Most folks do the jumpseat trip on Sat. Some that took the a-s crack o' dawn flights out were able to get back by noon-ish. I took an early afternoon flight out and was back by 7pm...just depends what you can find for yourself to schedule on the airframe you get assigned to. It is generally do-able to have her show up Sat afternoon. Worst case, she takes the shuttle to the hotel and gets a key from the desk to wait around for you for a little while.
Cheers,
T-Bone

Tbone,
When you do your jumpseat observation flight, are you in Delta uniform, or casual? I'm guessing the first weekend is kind of quick for folks to get their uniforms.

Toejam,
They told us to wear business casual for the jumpseat observation. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that the first time you will need your uniform is when you ride the jumpseat for a whole rotation (multi-day trip) prior to IOE (the end of simulator training).

Got a quick question for you all. After setting up the interview date, did any of you receive a confirmation with the date of the interview? I have confirmed that Delta has my flight reservations, but thats about it. Any info is appreciated.

Flyinrob - If you got your email from Delta with your flight information, that will more than likely be the last thing you hear from them before your interview.
A few other tips? Try to be at the interview building by 7:30am - there was a long line to check in the day I was there. Bring an extra shirt for your interview suit - you'll be wearing it again on Day 2. Make sure you eat breakfast that morning before you leave for the interview. Bring some Power Bars in your briefcase. There's a cafeteria in a building across the street that they'll send you to for lunch, but otherwise there isn't any food available throughout the day, and it's pretty stressful and can get exhausting. They will mention to you to take breaks when you need them - step outside, get some fresh air, get a bottle of water, etc. Take them up on that offer. They mean it, and you'll need it to continue working with a clear head. It's a long day.
Good luck!

Laptop Needs
Anyone have a good idea of what type of computer is required for the materials handed out during Indoc?
What format are the aircraft study materials?
What type of laptop has worked best for continual use during trips?
My laptop has seen better days and I'm in the market for a new one. I'm considering a move to mac format with the new lightweight efficient "Macbook Air". I've been a PC user but do have another mac. I'm just curious whether the "Air" will fill the needs.
Thanks by the way for all of the Indoc info so far...it is really appreciated!
