Guys, thank you so much for all of the great info.

I just bought a MacBook (2.2GHz, 1GB, 120GB HD), because my old Dell has become almost impossible to use. What do I have to do - or is there anything I CAN do - to get my Mac compatible with the training CD's?

I'd prefer to purchase software for my Mac than attempt to get my Dell fixed, buy a new Dell, or use the hotel/training center computers... Is this possible? Has anyone successfully used a MacBook during training?

Thanks!

My laptop has seen better days and I'm in the market for a new one. I'm considering a move to mac format with the new lightweight efficient "Macbook Air". I've been a PC user but do have another mac. I'm just curious whether the "Air" will fill the needs.

Thanks by the way for all of the Indoc info so far...it is really appreciated!
I think the Air is very nice and sexy, but limited battery life, no DVD unless you get the optional external DVD drive, weak processor, are all detracters. I have an Asus S6FM that is great and the small Sony's are wonderful as well. Now you CAN put Windows on a MAC so should be able to use any software that is given. Hope it helps.

"Seems like a bit more military than normal in this class, from a glance at where they were from."

From what I've heard/seen, DAL is definately leaning towards Mil guys. Something about feedback from the school house and training captains.

Why, because the schoolhouse and "training captains" want to create job security by doing extra sim sessions and IOE?

I can't speak for other equipment's CDs, but I am cranking through the MD-88 CD's right now. Like you, I have a MacBook of similar specs. I downloaded a trial PC emulator (VMware Fusion) and a trial version of Windows XP and so far, the CD's work like a champ. While I am confident it will produce the all important completion code, I was told by the MD-88 tech rep that this would not work and I should try using a PC. If it ends in a miserable failure, I will post back here and let you know.

If you get a head start on the issue when you receive your CDs the first week, then you will probably be fine. I waited until midway through week 2 and wish I had figured out sooner that there was a problem.

I would not count on the hotel/training center computers for much except occasionally printing out a form.

Could have been. And if so, I apologize for going balistic! Seen this FAR TOO MANY TIMES on this sight. I do, however, support the bulk of the text that was written. Unfortunately, this is the wrong thread to post that on. "There's two LL's in BALLISTIC boys!"

Rocky, I don't think this guy knows you or knows the training program. What do you think?

Anyway, I feel for you pal.... Welcome to the BIG show!

Your Mac will be just fine, as long as you have windows. Several people in my class used it sucessfully. Stick with the mac, it will definately be my next laptop. Dell's CEO is Don Carter, I don't know of any pilot that would put one cent into a Dell if they knew that....
