Does Delta require FOs to have a current first class, or can you let it lapse? For example, can I show up to class with a current first class then wait 12 months from the date on the medical certificate to take another exam?

You need a current first class medical to start, period.

You must maintain a first class medical if you are on the 7ER, 777 or 765 as a first officer (because you are typed as a PIC).

Other DAL dudes, let me know if my info is AFU.

But i think DAL will pay for your medical if you're required to maintain class I status, is that correct? i.e. if you're flying the wide bodies...

DAL reimburses your for your medical costs. When you fax in your updated medical, a flat rate reimbursement goes into your pay check automatically. I can't remember the total but its generally more than enough to cover it.

Looks like the 2007 numbers were $165 when EKG required and $100 when not.

Looks like a good payout in ATL.

Yes it was. To all who bash DAL, tell me another airline that is giving profit sharing like that to its employees. On the flipside, imagine how much more it would have been if DAL were not subsidizing Skywest's fuel to the tune of $100M.

I'm on your side...but do you think it might be in part due to the fact that there is not much union presence at the company (except us)? Additionally, I believe SWA and Jet Blue also offer profit sharing. I think JB has 5% profit sharing, whether the company makes a profit or not...but I could be wrong.

It could be the other way around. The pilots negotate a benefit, profit sharing in this case, and the the company is obliged to give the non-contrat employees a similar package. Profit sharing is a contractually required benefit achieved through negotations during bankruptcy. The company announced profit sharing for the non-union employees after the pilots.

So if the company does not make a profit they get 5% of zero? Just another case of the man trying to keep us down!
