Yeah, great... looks like a shafting to me. 5% of my bid package and 10% of what flowed down to me was flights to SDQ from JFK and ATL. We already were abdicating SJU almost to JetBlue, now we've got a "partner" setting up a HUB there... I'm sure we're going to compete like hell to keep that revenue and drive them out of the market, crush them back, amirite?

Well, now, not so much. Here's the latest assault on our flying:

"The Brazilian carrier plans to set up a hub in the Dominican Republic capital of Santo Domingo, from which it plans to operate flights to other locations in North America...

Looks like they are expanding international as we cut back.

And we have nothing in our contract to prevent our flying from being given away, right?
We are cutting back flying in South America? When was this announced? I understand we are growing there and will bring in more new flights in the next 18 months. I totally missed the cut back announcement.

Applicable portions of the PWA below. While this sucks, it does limit what they are able to do. The thinking is if the company can sell more than 75 seats then we would do it ourself (does that # sound familiar like less than a full 76 seater??) if not then they can share the flight with someone else and pull whatever revenue they can sell. Great from a business perspective, not so much for us.

Well, it depends on the definition of "we". I've learned that in management's eyes, "we" means Delta, or Delta Connection, or Alaska, or Air France, or any domestic or foreign airline that is or would like to become part of Delta's ticket brokering business. As long as you will add to Delta's bottom line,"Welcome aboard, and here's some flying to get you started."

So using that definition, I guess "we" are growing, somewhere. The AE's sure don't show it, though. At least at Delta mainline, where I work.

(Well, actually, I thought I worked at mainline, until RA told the investors that 76 seaters are mainline jets. Are those coming out on the next AE? And if not, how is that not intentional misleading during a briefing regulated by the SEC?)

It's my understanding that mainline metal to LA/SA is going to be up around 1% next year.

Nicely stated... Some of our own are not the brightest but definitely manageable. It's parts of out contract that make this latest TA a complete POS.

The combo of LA/SA is a bit big though.

How about just Brasil?

And yes, it took some effort, but I found a picture of a Brasilian supermodel (Giesele something or other) in a heavy coat.

Apparently most of the capacity growth will be brazil... we want to put the whale down there, but they won't let an airplane down there larger than their airlines have.

I know, why is that?

They let BA, Lufthansa and JAL fly 744s to GRU but not us?
