I did not have a huge problem with the age 65 change, but I will NOT stand for no age limit.

That is still good news. 199 is not a bad number. Most have realized that there is nothing out there for them to do and they need to stay here.
I had a CA this last week tell me how no age limit would be great. He would fly till he died and that was just to fricken bad for me. Ferd |

I was kidding about who it was. But, your right about some wanting to fly till they drop. It's sad that there are guys out there like that.......I know I have much better "stuff" to do with my life, like reading APC:cool:

He is senior as heck, and very young. Who he/she is does not matter. What matters is there are a few other here that are going to push for this change so they can fly till they die. There will be no retirement. He is just fine with it since he/she will be at the top of the pay scale and drop what they want. It is one more way a junior guy will get hosed.

IMHO the age 60 to 65 rule should've had a waiting period of 5 years before implemented. Or 10 years. And then it'd been interesting to see who fought for it.
So this guy who wants the age limit eliminated, he must be very special. Is he the type to say this? "I think I've heard enough whining. Furloughs ,as unpleasant as they may be, have ALWAYS been a part of the airline business. Go ask the "seniors" at DL/UA etc how long they had to endure this stuff : some up to 7 YEARS! And no, most of us Old F...s did not come with a silver spoon in their mouth. There was a time in the 70s where you needed an ATP just to fly a c172 to do pipe line surveys, and those were lucky. The good pays were about $.10 a mile. There wasn't those" (expletive)little RJs to fly around" like I was told by some younger guy. There is a sense of entitlement among you guys that just evades us older types. Nowhere does it say in the constitution that you are granted stability in this business. Sure it sucks, but that's reality for you. It is not uncommon that a lot of us had to go through more than seven outfit to finally land that job we are in. We gave to the top part of the seniority list because they had been broken financially by the Lorenzos of the world, then it was helping the bottom is the list because of furloughs. I've seen my pay frozen then cut a few times in order to avoid or mitigate furloughs. My little retirement slashed by 30%, and no time to make up for it. Yes there might be more furloughs AND reduction of flying and those who have the earned privilege to stay and work will still have to pay their bills,so forgive us if we do not care to embrace poverty anymore: we've been there and done that. Seniority has it's rights and we paid dearly for it and if the bottom of the list doesn't like it, tough but we've done our part and please leave political correctness out of this." |
Well he is for tighter scope.....

As much as I like it, can't possibly imagine staying for another 15+ years. I turn 50 in December. Was furloughed last time around and I tell you, sleep in your own bed every night has it's merits.
