Well they shouldnt have displaced me off of the bus then!! they're short on -9 guys too i guess since I flew 80 hours last month and scheduled for 79 this month.

this time last year it was alot if we flew 40 hours on the -9, so much for this "overstaffing" phenomenon

Talked to a A320 scheduler last week. Said scheduler told me there were 3 days in a row with ZERO Reserve FO coverage. All trips were premium pay. Good thing they kicked a bunch of us off the Baby Bus & wasted $$$ requaling us on the DC9

You bet!

HOWEVER...Phase 3 sucks for DC-9 F/O's. I got stuck this am doing a crap load of work while the CA sat back and drank coffee:mad: The busiest seat in the company just got busier!

I like it this way. He stays focused on whats going on, manages, and keeps his eyes outside while taxiing.

Agreed, but I was referring to the PM preflight.

Ah, you guys did a joint pre-fight? To be honest with you, I don't mind doing it because then I know the stuff got done .. haha

Yeah, the only thing the CA was monitoring was his egg Mcmuffin.

On the MD-88, usually the CA is verifying the clerance, flightplan, fuel ... etc. If that's done, then they flirt with the FAs and/or the paxs as they load.

Until today the captain did every interior prefight on the DC-9 and when he or she responded to a checklist challange with a "checked" didn't have to look out of the corner of his eye to see if the FO was nodding his head with a "yeah, I did it."

After day one, my position is that the system/philosophy makes no sense.

I won't even get into not calling for flaps before taxi out, but I predict that that will change.

But, the good news from today is that we have REAL COCA COLA ON BOARD!!!! (Yes!!!) :D
