We did a version of PAs when briefing crews, generals, and squadrons, except never from behind the counter in the gate area--that environment is extremely intimidating!!!

The pilots not wearing the hat are the ones who have a different background than you, is that about right? Too funny.

Actually, have you ever seen a female pilot not wearing the hat? Must be a guy thing--in fact, since those guys must be different from me I'm guessing they all are trying to compensate for something.

But I think you're on to something: military folks always wore their hats. But their leaders did as well. So we just need RA and the boys to start wearing management uniforms with hats and set the example. All will be right with the world.

I just don't get it.
Virgin gets 21 flights a week and we get 7.
The population of the US is 310 million. The population of Australia is 22 million.

Why would we agree to this? Why does Delta agree to this?

If they cut below that, it's ok because they have until 1 Apr 14 to reach compliance. If they don't, we'll be really really mad at them and not appreciate it at all. If they still don't, we will try to work out a new LOA. If they still don't, we'll give them just one more chance. And if they still don't, be ready because we will grieve the issue!
So, whats the question?

If they don't, then ALPA better be all over it.

I was thinking further about this after talking to a rep, and realized I don't really have a strategy for them to react upfront. The company is emphasizing that pilots have an impact. I agree with that. They're telling ACS we will perform these gatehouse duties, in a beautifully tailored uniform, and I agree we'll do it to the extent it fits our plans. If in the application of this projection of pilot coolness, they get ahead of themselves, then we'll need to act.

I'm not sure I want us anticipating a problem on the PA's, but I'd like to see more assistance on the costs of uniforms.

What if there are a few issues, and a new memo reminds ACS that the PA's will occur if the Captain feels it appropriate in light of his/her other duties? That sentence alone would have made the memo perfect, but it can come in the form of a clean-up if needed.
Fair enuff. I still think this is much ado about nothing. I have full confidence that if the company tried to take any punitive action against a pilot that they would be represented by DALPA.

I dont get it either Check. Why do we allow these "small airlines" to flourish? We can KILL all of these airlines and still make a killing. It seems like capitalism has died in RA's camp or maybe RA's camp gets paid handsomely to outsource.

The Delta Brand is BIG. We have a multitude of passengers that will fly Delta metal to all-over the world. We can do this ourselves. We do not need a small and new airline like VA to help us.
