Just to add it's not base specific. There's quite a few jr guys on the 73 up in NY.

Will be interesting to see if senior guys bid it since they would easily be in the top 1/3 of the list or if guys will get MD'd into it like last time.

Your good for 12 months. After 12 months then you have to live off the 50%. It really is a great deal.

If you come back and have used up your full 12 months you can't go back out using the same reason for a period of 24 months.

If you went out for a different reason though it's ok and then you start using your second batch of 12 months.

Maybe I'm not getting it, but how is this a great deal vs having 2300 hours of sick time? Thanks

I know where you're coming from - but for those of us who have not been here long enough to accumulate that kind of sick time (assuming we still had that kind of system), this is not a bad deal. Now, if I had been here long enough to end up with that much sick time I might have a different view of things

If you look at the out sick list there are some guys that look like they had to go out during their first 1-2 years at the company.

You have to remember...every single DAL-S guy signed up for this program as new-hires. That is the only time we were allowed to enroll (not after we had effectively been at the company 10+ years which is where you are coming from...I get your ??? now).

I'm sure it's gotten quite a few guys through some rough times over the years. It's a nice security blanket until you can build a bank.

It's kind of like the stuff ALPA peddles ...you may use it, you might not, but it's better than finding out the hard way.

Combine that with the fact that we're approaching 2 years into the age 65 change and we should start seeing guys drop off within that period of time as well.

Just a reminder from the combined Seniority calculator on the DALPA site:

Age 65 retirements:

2009 ---> 2
2010 ---> 12
2011 ---> 12
2012 ---> 25
2013 ---> 137
2014 ---> 229
2015 and beyond ---> ATL firetrucks will pull double time for daily duties of water-cannon salutes

All in all, not much movement due solely to the age 65 rule for several years. I suppose one of the "X factors" already discussed is what DAL-N guys will do when they turn 60. For my money, I think they'll stick around if healthy. They didn't work that hard keeping healthy and retaining their medicals just to jump when the schedules, equipment, and pay just keep getting better and better.

fact is that most wont go to 65, the nwa side has lost near 400 in the last 2 years, some were obviously early outs but the numbers you show above are worst case scenario. that is the real X factor is who and when

Okay DAL-S guys, I feel like a total moron. Its the new (and "improved") PBS system. I'm trying to put in my bids for Sep. Normally, I'm a line holder but I want to put in reserve preferences if, for some reason in these crazy daze, I drop down to a senior reserve guy. I can't seem to get from the regular line "wannas" to the reserve "wannas" on this new "Pairings" crap. How do I fly from point A to point B? I've tried everything, to include trying to decipher the "Help" section on PBS. Help?!

PS, for our new DAL-N bros, I can't imagine what you guys are going through. It really shouldn't be this hard...

FWIW, after the droughts here in ATL the last few years they no longer do the fire truck cannon salutes. You just get to pull in to your gate and get your badge taken from you and then you get escorted to your car ;)

You still can get the retirement photo op though.

Hey, if we ever expanded in New York, say LGA, would we try and add Piedmont to our DCI and use their Dash 8s?

Buzzpat, you ain't alone. There is something with the functionality of PBS that is frustrating the first few times I used it until I finally figured it out.

Make sure when after you added your first bid, say for a line or whatever, that now that you're ready to add your second that you highlight the entire section and then hit add. Anotherwords, say you logged on and said I want to Start Pairings and then you put in one line. Now your bid should show:
1. Start Pairings
2. Whatever Buzzpat wanted
Award Pairings

Now highlight all of that, 1. 2. and Award Pairings. Don't highlight one line, highlight it all and now hit Add and it should now show up as Start Pairings and Start Reserve. If you click start reserve then it will come up and say (for instance):

3. Start Reserve
Add Here

Well go back to line "2. What Buzzpat wanted" and hit copy, now go to the Add Here and highlight it and hit paste.

Now, is that what you're asking or is it something else?
