I'd still much prefer an rj style intercom any day over the one ear on and one ear off system we use on the MDs and Boeing's. But hey, it's how they did it in the 50s so by golly that's how we ought to do it in 2013.

Back when we had the Headset Dr. in ATL, I had him disconnect the audio on the right side of my headset. That way I only hear the audio in my left ear and I don't have to wear the headset with the right side behind the ear. I find it more comfortable to wear the headset the way it was intended to be worn.

Not sure if you could find anyone to do this for you now. I think on the Telex 750's, you could just cut the wire on the side you want to disconnect. But on my Plantronics headset, I think the Headset Dr. had to do something special (some extra part he had to install?) to do this without killing the audio in both sides. If I ever have to get another one, I may be out of luck on getting this done again.

Looks like the 4th floor Cubicle Captains on high mins are still hard at work, coming up with cool new words and trying to justify their jobs.

Atilla, D-0, and now this nonsense.

That'll fix it. Wait, what was the problem again? Oh yeah, we were the most on time airline. So let's change it!

I've always tried to help the gate agents and ground crew show the flight out on time, if we are buttoned up and ready to go, waiting on the RJ behind us to move, so we can push.

But now, I guess I'll just wait until we are actually in motion, moving backwards, before I turn on the light.

I'll bet in a month or two, after D-0 becomes D+10, they'll have to put out another letter, to undo the damage this one is going to cause.

See?

That's Job Justification. And it keeps the folks in Manual Services busy as well.

Oh, and everyone else can blame the Pilots!

It's Win-Win!

Truth.

and, it's my understanding that most or all of CQ was put on hold in March to help boost Q1 numbers. What on earth is going on??

That's the rumor but I don't understand the math on that one. We are fat on pilots in just about every category now, 8 required, 25 available every day in my category, so why not send them to CQ in March, before we get busy with the summer schedule??

The sims are paid for, the instructors are paid for (unless they are not going to pay any of the DGS guys to show up for an entire month!) and the pilots are not going to be missed on the line...so...how is -no- CQ in March going to save any money?

Oh wait, they won't have to pay for Hotels for ATL commuters, until April!

True dat!

Plus, I wonder how many of these wunderkinds have actually sat in a cockpit, tried to get their name in the cue for push at JFK, LAX, PHL, MIA or, you name it, and realize just how F'ed up the whole push process is. I've never, ever flown with a pilot who is "latent" to get the show on the road. Ever.

My BP spikes when I'm trying to move the jet and nobody else shares the urgency. THAT's what mgt needs to be watching!

One ear on, one ear off, as old as Terminal 3's blueprints.

Random...

Actually, the Captain didn't wear anything. Just the FO tried to listen to what ATC was saying.

Well then, those guys better HOPE for some grannies as the males (straight and gay) and hot young 20-somethings won't give them a second look.

I wish I knew some of the LODs that are interviewing next week. I'd love for them to report back on how HOT the DL pilot group is.....
