My last trip on the ER was with a very young and junior asian A-line. The bitter FAs in the van plus a Captain whose wife was a FA began to ask questions. He explained it all. He probably wasn't supposed to do that.

But he was young and junior.

Something about if you can get it in the first 15 minutes then first come first serve and you don't drop anything without contacting the designated person sitting at the computer that day handling everyone's trips for them. So you call to make a trade or drop and then that person looks on the list of who is up next and will log in for them and pick up said trip in that 15 minute window.

That was years ago and I can see why you'd get canned for it.

You'll know it's happened when you see a little 25yr. old Asian girl with a SN of about 15,000+ flying your next Joburg trip, with all the 68yr. old 'area code' (3 digit SN) gals.

One of the senior momma's was telling me about that Asian Moffia program, they call it...

"Snatch"

She said they have gone to the company to try to put a stop to it, but the company won't do anything about it.

Pretty logical on company's part, now they can continue to delay hiring. I'm not saying the sky is falling and I'm sure someone can put some positive spin on why they are not going to start 717 service. But before you bid for the summer off I think it is pretty clear that it not going to happen. I can see the next CR letter saying Nov then Dec then by next summer for 717 service.

Also, in the last letter from ops I was led to believe that we are still over staffed in the 330 and will be further overstaffed when they start the lie flat conversions and start removing the 330's from service. There is your next source of funding for the 717. Hmmm
Also the "gate latency" thing could eliminate many, many thousands of block hours per year from the schedule. That's what its for mostly IMO, and not "tracking ground control alleyway congestion" which is uber bogus. That could be a major cource of "funding" to further delay hiring, while potential merger "partners" continue to hire and get "more senior" than DL pilots.

Geez you guys are so triggered to anger!! I just meant that as friendly little banter by saying let's test your theory.

There can stil be double time for inverse assignments or reroutes into days off. I'm sure the other half that don't commute won't like this though.
While we're at it can we eliminate the crappy commutable 5-day trips that none of non-commuting pilots want to fly but end up getting them when the commuters don't take them or call in sick on them? Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-commuter, but that ax swings both ways.

P.S. I think your commuter % is a bit high as well.
P.P.S. I'm not senior either.

If there is not a junior pilot to them, it will move on to their next choice.

From the union: The top most senior 145 AE’s would initially populate those positions. Then the system goes back and looks at Mandatory Displacements.

From me: So my understanding is they just run the AEs and if 0 pilots being displaced (767/DC9) bid the 717 on an AE then on the first run they're not put into the plane. 0 will be awarded the 717. However, the next run they do the MDs and that's when the 767/DC9 guys who bid the 717 on an MD (and wanted it) will get to hold it and knock junior pilots down below them until they knock people off. Then they post it. So for the DC9/767 guys, they luck out in that there are no category freezes off their MD and they'll hold it if their seniority was going to hold it in the first place. You end up in the same place. But it's also why that count thing on icrew is so worthless.

I'm still saying 1601 on March 19th.

And let's have an even bigger pool, how many times does someone ask if the AE is out?
March 20th 0934 and 6

Tell them if it bothers them that bad they can quit. Isn't that what we tell the pilots that complain too much

You have almost figured out what is going on. Seat lock a bunch of guys on the lowest paying equipment for the next few years with emminent known secret hiring. Then bring in new hires on larger equipment out of seniority to fly the larger equipment. Saves money and reduces the overall training footprint in the long run. Know where has this been seen before? Oh yeah, here. In 2008 when new hires were going to the ER. People's memory are so short and mgt is counting on that as always.

Then, just as the lock is expirining a new contract will be in negotiations with another "great deal" for the bottom half of the list.

That wasn't anger, that was my inside voice!

You'll know when I'm angry, but I've been working on it. My Anger Management Councelor, Sam Adams, says I'm doing much better.
