Purple, posting attacks on an anonymous web board directed at our fellow pilots, who step forward and volunteer to make this a better place to work, isn't much of a contribution. You're coming across as the type of guy who likes to sit on the sidelines and toss stones at the guys actually on the field, when you're not willing to suit up and get in the game yourself. ALPA's not perfect, no organization is, but the vitriol that is spewed on this web board by some is not productive, particularly when the guys launching the attacks aren't willing to do the work themselves. Rant over.

I think we should all have a problem with folks who are supposed to be representing us, but who instead manipulate and patronize us to further an agenda other than Delta pilots' best interests. Should the act of volunteering exempt one from criticism, regardless of actions or results? I say no.

The assertion that those who don't work for ALPA are "sitting on the sidelines" is a fallacy. We're all suited up in this game. None of us are on the sidelines.

I'm often surprised by how many people read the discussions on this forum and this thread in particular. The discussions here are never going to affect change directly, but they do get people talking about specific subjects even though many of the people involved in the discussion are on different continents working for different companies. Public forums can serve as a valuable tool in our fight to better the profession if we let them.

I'm not defending anyone, just pointing out that topics being discussed in a semi-anonymous and accessible setting are valuable to our profession.

If you don't like what you see on the scope, turn it off.

Depends on how long they've been married if they still go hand in hand.

Then get marketing to find more flying for us in the winter. Not our problem. We subsidize their fleet plan and capacity flux enough as it is.

Or don't fly as much in the summer? Just keep it the same all year.

But you can tell what they want is min number of pilots needed to cover the summer schedule if the pilots fly to the FAA max.

I think you all underestimate the audience here on APC. This thread is viewed by many Delta pilots. Many, many lurkers, including myself most of the time. I don't post often, but do like to see the comments and gauge the Delta pilot sentiment towards this or that topic of the day. I think APC has its place in influencing opinions of our group. If it wasn't for Lumberg the TA would have been shot down! Guy was selling it!

Would like to hear more from Carl...happy to see him back. FTB is an APC rock star! Guy should be on the payroll!

Which is why switching July & August to 30 day bid months was a huge concession. I believe this will have a significant impact in head count going forward.
